Randall Flagg Posted April 24, 2016 Report Posted April 24, 2016 Has the NYI series been any good? Is tonight's game worth watching? Yes, the hockey has been among the most enjoyable of the playoffs. Fast paced and very tight games with lots of scoring chances. Quote
Thorner Posted April 24, 2016 Report Posted April 24, 2016 So, saving ALL your effort for a single period doesn't work? Who'd've thunk? :p Part of it was that. But also, is there a bigger cliche in sports than "we play our game for the full 60"? All these guys are human, going into period 3 with a 4 zip lead, no way those Dallas players came out trying their hardest in the third. Nearly cost them. On top of that, their defence and goaltending just doesn't seem strong enough. Dallas will be losing to Chicago next round. Quote

Seemed to me that if Dallas could have made it through the next couple of shifts after the 1st pp goal, they'd've won going away. Giving up a goal 16 seconds after the 1st one completely tilted the ice. Agreed that it doesn't seem they'll have the goaltending nor D to beat the game 7 winner. Will be a good test for LR's coaching. Quote

Huckleberry Posted April 24, 2016 Report Posted April 24, 2016 Always find it weird seeing fans of NHL teams waiving around white handkerchiefs like the wild just did. If I get it right it was a Montreal thing during the 90's. I know they do that in Spain as well. But for me it is always associated with this song and always done at weddings or parties. Its a French song though :D Quote
Norcal Posted April 24, 2016 Report Posted April 24, 2016 I underestimated the Islanders with all their injuries Quote

Its a French song though :D Started w/ Vancouver in '82. Roger Nielson waived a white towel at the refs in a playoff game and the fans ran w/ it. The Jets do their "whiteout" of the rink as well. Waiving the white towels isn't a Moe-ray-all thing AFAIK. Quote

Norcal Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 The pull the goalie move was bound to pay off sooner or later as much as its been done lately Quote
darksabre Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 I'm a little annoyed by the Florida game. There could have been two very blatant penalties called on the Islanders when Florida was attempting to score on the empty net. Instead of making those calls the officials let it go and we end up with a tie and overtime. This game should be over. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 If anybody watching this game still doesn't think this league is rigged then you aren't paying attention. What a bunch of horseshit. Quote
Taro T Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 If anybody watching this game still doesn't think this league is rigged then you aren't paying attention. What a bunch of horseshit. The refs have been poor, but neither one left the puck sitting clear in the crease for Tavares to tap it in. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Can't have Florida move on instead of the NY market when ratings are this low :angel:Seriously, that was one of the most absurd things I've ever seen. "We don't want the refs to influence the outcome of the game." Ha. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 The refs have been poor, but neither one left the puck sitting clear in the crease for Tavares to tap it in. That play never should have happened because somebody should have been in the penalty box and the Panthers in the power play. I'm hoping the league is rigged because there is absolutely no reason these officials are this inept. Quote

I'm hoping the league is rigged because there is absolutely no reason these officials are this inept. Really though. Barkov up doesn't happen if a disgusting non-call doesn't happen. Isles have been helped along this entire series. By "not influencing the game", the refs probably ended a team's season. Quote

But, as bad as the reffing was, Luongo still had an opportunity to make a play and didn't. That said, it isn't often a team wins 3 OTs in a single series, though it was a regular occurance the last season the Isles won a series for whatever that's worth, so one could expect the Cats to get a bounce here. (Rather than getting bounced. ;)) Quote
WildCard Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 That non call on Jagr might be one I the worst I've ever seen Quote
Randall Flagg Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 The non-call on Jagr was disgusting too. Quote
darksabre Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Jagr got tackled to stop a breakaway and no call. If Jagr can't buy a call who can? Quote
Norcal Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Somebody's gonna win for the 1st time in 20 years Quote
pastajoe Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Isles keep getting away with interference whenever Florida chips it behind the D. Quote
WildCard Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Somebody's gonna win for the 1st time in 20 yearsNot necessarily tonight though. That's for the series Quote
Randall Flagg Posted April 25, 2016 Report Posted April 25, 2016 Hope the Cats can settle down and regain control in the intermission. Quote
