Huckleberry Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 I told you guys Moulson was going to rebound. Can we start an offseason Moulson is fine bandwagon ? maybe some people can come out of the bogo bunker. Quote

Nitro60 Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 Good win. Stop the streak and build confidence for next season. Quote
thewookie1 Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 Woohoo another W in the bank. ROR is worth every penny we spent on his contract and trade. Eichel is still a rookie, he still screws up, but he also makes amazing plays and when he does screw up he tends to work his ass off to fix it. Chad Johnson is the epitome of a Startup/Backer goalie, Higher end backup for sure and an average to above average starter. Sign him for 2 years to play with Lehner, I'd feel confident that even if Lehner gets injured we aren't instantly screwed. I think Girgs needs to just dive and kneel around pucks in the other team's zone; he scores more often from anything but his feet. I hope Moulson can get going a little now so he has some confidence in the offseason. Legwand was definitely a blessing in disguise, and a freaking great PK guy. Quote
Tondas Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 Can we start an offseason Moulson is fine bandwagon ? maybe some people can come out of the bogo bunker. I think Matty is the kind of player that needs to have a consistent line to play on like he did with Tavares. He's not getting that with Disco Dan. Hopefully, next year, DB will stick with some line combos to get continuity. I think that would help a lot of players. Like the 12-22-82 line. Woohoo another W in the bank. Do you think Leggy is brought back for a year for $1 million or is it time to move on? Quote
Thorner Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 6-2-2, 14 pts. in their last ten. That's tied for 4th best "last ten" in NHL. Only PIT, DAL and PHL better, tied with STL. This is exciting. Quote
pastajoe Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 I don't mind D-lo riding shotgun for the kids. It keeps other teams from taking liberties with them. Gretzky and Kurri had Semenko and they did OK. Quote

PromoTheRobot Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 I think Chad is playing better than a backup. He's the Johnsonator. Quote
Doohicksie Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 (edited) He is so good on the PK and very well respected in the room, why not bring him back if he's willing? Or if he's not willing to play, bring him back as a PK coach. Edited April 4, 2016 by Robin Egg Quote
deluca67 Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 2-0-1 to finish .500?? Could happen! 82 points is not .500. 41 - 41 is .500  Glad to see this team hold on and win. That 5-3 penalty kill, giving up only two shots, showed some character. The Rangers had all the momentum and the Sabres did not cave. The Sabres seemed to have very active sticks in the game. I don't remember them ever deflecting as many passes as they did tonight. Not sure if a stat is kept on that. Game 79 in a long season with not playoffs ahead of them and this team played hard and they wore their passion on their sleeves tonight. The is no running for the buses or the golf courses for this team. They look like they are ready to play another 30 games. He is so good on the PK and very well respected in the room, why not bring him back if he's willing? Hopefully there just won't be room. Not saying this in a bad way against Legwand, just hoping with more young talent coming up and maybe a couple of off-season moves the talent bar will be raised enough where Legwand just wouldn't make the cut. I think Chad is playing better than a backup. He's the Johnsonator. I hated the job Johnson did on the first goal Hayes scored. I thought he was slow getting across the crease. Quote
Kristian Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 (edited) I think Chad is playing better than a backup. He's the Johnsonator. That blocker save was something, but in general he had another strong game. He's not flashy, he's just.... There, for lack of a better word. The 4-2 goal last night was a bounce off the end boards, and Girgs should've had an assist on the 4-3 goal, for coughing up the puck that easily. Edited April 3, 2016 by Kristian Quote
thewookie1 Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 Agree with all of this. Do you think Leggy is brought back for a year for $1 million or is it time to move on? It varies on rather or not they feel Schaller is ready and rather or not we are able to pick up a high end player thus pushing players down the depth chart. I pray he retires because I'd hire him to be a coach or adviser in a heartbeat. Plus is it just me or does Legwand suddenly look like he plays 5 years younger on the PK, he looks quicker, his stick is more active, and he seems more offensively competent while on the PK. Quote
nucci Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 Or if he's not willing to lay, bring him back as a PK coach. why do you think he'd be a good coach? Quote
SwampD Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 I can't tell if the Sabres looked good last night or if the Rags just looked awful. COR's set up to Moulson was a great play. So was Eichal's. It was a pretty good game, though, and it was nice to see a game where all the goals were scored on "plays". None of them were the just throw it on net and get a goofy deflection type. Oh, and killing that 2 minute 5 on 3 was pretty cool, too. Quote

I hated the job Johnson did on the first goal Hayes scored. I thought he was slow getting across the crease. I get that thought & agree that it's possible there won't be room for him. But unless they get Stamkos, I don't see them having only Gionta as an older leadership F on the team. Moulson won't be moved, but w/ his diminished skills he wouldn't qualify as a "leader." The kids the Sabres have exhibit a lot of the right qualities & though he's young I could very well see O'Reilly get the C this coming season, so there is young leadership, but IMHO they do need that veteran presence to bolster it. Having a top 10 PK could be the difference between low 90's & high 90's. I'd like to see a 4th line of Deslauriers - Legwand - Fasching with Stamkos or Drouin the missing piece in the top 6. Legwand as PK specialist; Fasching playing the Moe-ray-all version of LeClair making the 4th line able to score & being the big body down low on the PP (which McGinn was filling); & Deslauriers as the true 4th liner that also has a modest scoring touch. When injuries occur, bring up Bailey, Baptiste, or Carrier for filling in on top 6 or Schaller or O'Reilly for bottom 6. I'd like to see Gionta & Legwand both back this season, but at least one gone the following year. Quote
Stoner Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 Mr. Marcus Foligno made a sweet pass late in the game. He was surrounded along the right wing wall in the Sabres zone with the Rangers pressing to tie. Foligno just spanked the puck to his left into open ice. Sort of a no-no, but he found an open teammate and the Sabres cleared. It was so bold and unexpected, especially from him — and it worked, versus just trying to urge it over the blue line with skates and sticks in the way. He's come a long way this season. Quote

That pass wasn't just to open ice - it was right to the D-man. Funny you mention that play, because my reaction was "shiiiii, oh, cool!" It turned out to be a great play. Really hoping they can win out. Would be a good way for these kids to go into the summer. Knowing that if they keep busting their arses, they can not only compete but win games. Next season should be fun. Quote

Beer Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 To make ourselves feel even better, go find the Mcclellan post game interview after the mighty Oil got spanked by Calgary last night. The Sabres are on the right path. Go Sabres! Quote

TrueBlueGED Posted April 3, 2016 Report Posted April 3, 2016 I love Legwand on the PK, but honestly, I'm looking to assemble a 4th line that can play a semi-regular shift and not make me hold my breath every time they're on the ice at even strength. Legwand definitely isn't the type of guy at this stage of his career for the 4th line I want to ice. I may be ready to give Schaller a longer look. Quote
