Weave Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Can't have too many goalie prospects...... Quote
Brawndo Posted March 15, 2016 Author Report Posted March 15, 2016 One year ELC and then he is a RFA based on his age(23). 667k per Harrington and Cap Friendly Figure he goes to Rochester. Quote
sabills Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 At this point, do we have more goalie prospects than D prospects? Quote
Doohicksie Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 One year ELC and then he is a RFA based on his age(23). 667k per Harrington and Cap Friendly Figure he goes to Rochester. Undoubtedly, but being 23 he can probably step up to the NHL level if the goalies catch the injury bug next season. Quote
inkman Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 At this point, do we have more goalie prospects than D prospects? Are we counting the players on the current Sabres roster? If not then I'd say it's about even. Quote
Eleven Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 One year ELC and then he is a RFA based on his age(23). 667k per Harrington and Cap Friendly Figure he goes to Rochester. I think the automatic RFA age for goalies was 26. Don't know why I think this, but I do. Get him to Roch immediately and get him some starts! Quote
dudacek Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Makarov is going, Lieuwen is probably following. Absolutely necessary to back up Ullmark next year and battle Peterson and the Swedish Third rounder whose name escapes me going beyond that. Quote

Ducky Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) Group 2 Players and Free Agents. (i) (A) Any Player who meets the qualifications set forth in the following chart and: (1) is not a Group 1 Player or a Group 4 Player, and (2) is not an Unrestricted Free Agent, shall be deemed to be a "Group 2 Player" and shall, at the expiration of his SPC, become a Restricted Free Agent. Any such Player shall be completely free to negotiate and sign an SPC with any Club, and any Club shall be completely free to negotiate and sign an SPC with any such Player, subject to the provisions set forth in this Section. As used in this Section 10.2, "age," including "First SPC Signing Age" means a Player's age on September 15 of the calendar year in which he signs an SPC regardless of his actual age on the date he signs such SPC. First SPC Signing Age Eligible for Group 2 Free Agency 18 - 21......3 years professional experience 22 - 23......2 years professional experience 24 or older.........1 year professional experience For the purposes of this Section 10.2(a), a Player aged 18 or 19 earns a year of professional experience by playing ten (10) or more NHL Games in a given NHL Season, and a Player aged 20 or older (or who turns 20 between September 16 and December 31 of the year in which he signs his first SPC) earns a year of professional experience by playing ten (10) or more Professional Games under an SPC in a given League Year. If I'm not mistaken, he is considered 24 years old because he will be by Sept. 1 ( I think ) and needs 1 year before he is an RFA. Edited March 15, 2016 by Ducky Quote
dudacek Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 So Kasdorf apparently signed a one-year deal that only counts for the remainder of this season. He is reporting to Buffalo, not Rochester and will be an RFA this summer? Anyone with CBA expertise care to explain what the benefits of that are for both sides? Quote

Odd. But maybe didn't have much of a choice? Quote
... Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Maybe Lehner needs to rest his ankle more? Put him on IR and see what the kid can do? Quote
Ducky Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 He signs this now and gets the signing bonus and a few large paydays before summer All teams use this to get them to sign. Quote
pastajoe Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 They'll bring him in for testing and practice with the team, working with the goalie coach, and maybe they'll give him a game near the end of the season. Quote
jsb Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) Maybe Lehner needs to rest his ankle more? Put him on IR and see what the kid can do? Didn't he have a slight groin injury late in the season, if so will he rehab first?? Edited and found the tweet Mark Singelais Verified account @MarkSingelais RPI coach Seth Appert said G Jason Kasdorf didn't play because of groin injury. Hurt during yesterday's morning skate but played Game 1. Edited March 15, 2016 by jsb Quote
dudacek Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) He signs this now and gets the signing bonus and a few large paydays before summer All teams use this to get them to sign. But they usually blow the first year of a two- or three-year deal on it not the only year of a one-year deal. I get the benefit to Kasdorf is that he finishes his ELC in record time. And I assume the plan is to re-sign him. But I am not sure why he is better off doing it this way rather the way McCabe and Ruhwedel did it. And I am curious if there are any benefits to the Sabres. Did McCabe and Rudy get a different deal coming out of college? I recall Rudy getting time with the big team as part of his deal out of NCAA. Quote
dudacek Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 Did McCabe and Rudy get a different deal coming out of college? I recall Rudy getting time with the big team as part of his deal out of NCAA. They each got to start with the Sabres, but Rudy signed a two-year deal and McCabe a three-year deal. It's the fact that Kasdorf is a free agent in a few months that is odd. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted March 15, 2016 Report Posted March 15, 2016 They each got to start with the Sabres, but Rudy signed a two-year deal and McCabe a three-year deal. It's the fact that Kasdorf is a free agent in a few months that is odd. What I read intimated that his age required as much (?) Quote
