TrueBlueGED Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 I agree. Why wasn't he playing? Because he hasn't won a Stanley Cup. At least, that seems like the type of reasoning Torts would employ. Quote
inkman Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 He's pretty meh. Don't think he'd have made my team. Though it's Jack Johnson who is the real turd. All these Johnsons make it so hard... Quote

SwampD Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 It'll be at least 5 years before the NHL execs figure out what Twitter is. I was thinking more about the players. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 I was thinking more about the players. My guess is most players, off the record, would admit they'd rather Kessel had been there than any of a handful of guys. Quote

North Buffalo Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 The off season cant end soon enough. Quote
LTS Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 I laughed a long time last night after reading Kessel's tweet. A long time. He earned a lot of respect in my opinion. Frankly, there's no way he regrets that tweet ever. If the powers that be are offended and they are still in charge then he's not getting picked anyway. Anyone new is going to know that he was right. It was laughable how outplayed they were. Quote
Eleven Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 (edited) Matthews already has NA up 1-0. It's like a minute into the game. And now the second penalty on Sweden, still under one minute. (The PP on the first was negated by the goal.) Penalty shot (Gaudreau) stopped. missed. Now 2-0, 1:30 in! Eich was involved, too. WildCard Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 How's Jack look? Feel like a parent asking about their kids game hahah Quote
That Aud Smell Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 (edited) The play that Matthews made to set up his own goal was really something. And McDavid's rush just prior to that was breath taking (although fairly ordinary by his standards). 3-1. Man, Team NA is something. I'm also trying to figure out how Eichel got a secondary on the second goal. Edit: Maybe Jack drifted down that far after dishing to Ghost? https://pbs.twimg.com/tweet_video/Cs5op2-WYAAPb-b.mp4 Yep - I can see it on this one. That little black blur is the puck. Nifty backhand pass to Ghost to start the play. Edited September 21, 2016 by That Aud Smell Quote
Eleven Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 3-2 after 1. Team NA was outskating the hell out of Sweden during the first ten minutes, but it looks like Sweden has found a way to calm things down. Still a lot of breakaways, though. Without Lundqvist, this could be 5-2. Quote
WildCard Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Is there anywhere to re-watch the game? Quote
Randall Flagg Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Pretty bummed I'm missing this one. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Pretty bummed I'm missing this one. I don't know if I'm more bummed I'm missing it, or that Matthews is playing well again. I'm unbelievably bitter Toronto won the lottery  Quote

I'm unbelievably bitter Toronto won the lottery  I have not been watching it, but have seen the highlights. The play he makes, from his knees in part, to control McDavid's rebound, get around a big Swede, feed his right d-man, and pot the rebound ... sick stuff. here it is, btw: https://pbs.twimg.com/tweet_video/Cs5uzrFVUAAHVJj.mp4 Quote
bcsaberks Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Is there anywhere to re-watch the game? Unsure if they have full replays but it's streaming on ESPN now. http://www.espn.com/watchespn/player/_/channel/espn2/ Easy to watch from pc/phone if you have a login from cable/satellite provider. Also, McDavid going end to end and splitting the defensemen was unreal. First thing that came to mind was (with apologies to those who hate cross-sport references) a young Mike Vick running between two Vikings defenders who had taken the correct angles, but he just outran it. McDavid, similarly, just broke geometry. Quote
SwampD Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Boy, Sweden's PK on that one was clinical. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Found a stream. Damn, I love Swedish defensemen. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Nice! Good to see you, MODO! Eichel doing Eichel things there. That was fancy. Quote
