inkman Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 Why does it suck, because there isn't unanimous acceptance of the deal?It sucks because I don't need to read 400 posts, 384 of which are two dudes in a pee Pee measuring contest. Quote
Weave Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 We're basement dwellers because we traded Jamie McGinn! He was the fifth element! He was the rug that tied the room together! AND WE'LL NEVER HAVE THAT RECIPE AGAAAAAIIIINNNNNN Please stop. Quote
darksabre Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 Please stop. Not a chance. Jamie McGinn is the straw that broke the camel's back. And darn it, that needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Mister Gorbachev, tear down this wall! Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 It sucks because I don't need to read 400 posts, 384 of which are two dudes in a pee Pee measuring contest. I saw mainly decent posts describing why this deal should, or shouldn't have been made. It's a thread about a deal made at the deadline, one that was mostly anticipated. Not sure what else you'd expect out of it. Were you hoping for porn and kittens? Quote

Mister Gorbachev, tear down this wall!Does everything always have to be everything? I can not like this trade because I liked the player we let go and don't like the idea that that pick is just as likely to be AHL washout out as a NHL starter. It doesn't mean that I think Jamie was the glue that would get us to a Cup. Quote

Mister Gorbachev, tear down this wall! Come on. How about some empathy for your fellow fans. We traded away a solid player who was part of an exciting trade representative of the new regime and well liked by teammates and fans. Yeah he's replaceable, but it still sucks. Our beloved hockey team sucks, again. Fifth year in a row, crappy team. We know, many saw it coming.....still....no fun. Quote

Jamie McGinn wants to test free agency. GMTM has no leverage against that. Trade for assets. Cut and dry. Making anything more out of it is just foolish. I hope McGinn comes back. I'm a fan. But this trade is nothing. It's barely discussion worthy. And yet somehow here we are, making mountains out of mole hills. Quote

I may be the only NHL fan that wants it, but I am totally ready for a rule change that only allows players under contract to be traded for players under contract, more or less MLB style. Watching depleted hockey teams in the last 1/3 of the season just sucks. And I think it is worthy of being discussed (or is it disgust) on a hockey forum. I know I am not getting my wish. Everyone needs to just settle down. I get nuts and bolts business part of it, but it still sucks. It shows we are absolutely no closer to being a contender than we have been for some time. We would rather roll the dice on some guy in four years than try and win with someone we have now. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 I don't think there's much more to debate here, both sides seem pretty entrenched. I'm sure we'll revisit this all when we see what he gets as a UFA. Quote

Our beloved hockey team sucks, again. Fifth year in a row, crappy team. We know, many saw it coming.....still....no fun.I think if we're in this position next year we should be very worried. This year we have Sam and Jack as rookies. Next year they should hit the ground running. We should expect they grow and that will help elevate us. On top of that I would expect at least 1 player added to the top 6. If murray can also add 1 defender to the top 4 I would say that the playoffs are a real probability. We're much closer than last year at this time and that's exciting. We're more Florida then Edmonton impo. Quote
Weave Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 What's the new Capgeek? Who do we have to look forward to selling as a pending UFA next season if we aren't within 6-8 points of a WC? Quote

Randall Flagg Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 I'll be looking at GMTM and Disco, if that scenario unfolds. Quote
Claude_Verret Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 One year, hopefully soon, we'll be buyers at the deadline. Then we can trade for a McGinn type dime a dozen depth player and watch as people get pissed that GMTM didn't do enough. It'll be fun. Quote
