I think Chicago gave up a lot for Ladd.  It's well worth it if he plays well and they win another Cup, which could happen, but he just doesn't seem to have much left IMHO.

 

As for Stamkos -- as others have said upthread, Chicago wouldn't offer the deal DeLuca proposed, but if they did, I think TB would take it in a heartbeat.

He has come on in the last dozen or so games....he will be excellent with Toews and Hossa.

I don't think this is fair. Chicago was down in the dumps for quite some time. Buffalo doesn't have a history of big winning but there's a history of consistency here and we've got big pieces.

The big thing will be how Murray continues to assemble the roster. What comes next is the biggest step in the process. And then once we're on top, if we get there, how does the GM maneuver? Does he use his best future assets to continue the time at the top like Bowman/Tallon did or does he hesitate and miss the boat? We'll see.

Just because the contracts won't look the same doesn't mean you can't use them as a model. Just as coaches always find a way to adjust to coaching changes, executives find a way to adjust to financial changes. Over time players will have to take less or be impacted in different ways by the new contract parameters.
