Brawndo Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 From Joe Yerdon Eagle-eyed @JoshYohe_PGH spotted a walking boot on O'Reilly's right foot here at the arena. Quote
Thorner Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 Just terrible, terrible timing. Throws a big wrench into what was turning into a very nice turnaround this season. Extremely disappointing. Quote
sodbuster Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 So how long before Tony from Cheektowaga orders a custom "Matthews" Sabres Jersey? Quote
That Aud Smell Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 Sheeyit. My favourite Sabre. Heal well, #90! Quote
inkman Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 I cannot stand this LBI/UBI stuff. I heard foot somewhere earlier, was it against Columbus? They've been doing it for at least a decade. I'm pretty sure they weren't even the first sport to do it. Quote
StuckinFL Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 We weren't making the playoffs this season anyway. This is a great opportunity for Jack and Samson to step up and carry on how to persevere without ROR there. I'm actually curious to see if Kane will step up a bit. I think a little responsibility and being depended on to lead would do him wonders. Quote
WildCard Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Can't believe I got tickets for the McEichel game and there'll be no ROR  Quote

TrueBlueGED Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Can't believe I got tickets for the McEichel game and there'll be no ROR  F me! I didn't even think about that :( Quote
Randall Flagg Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 I mean, you guys still get to see McEichel. Quote
WildCard Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 I mean, you guys still get to see McEichel.Sure, but the chances of us watching a Sabres win plummeted F me! I didn't even think about that :(First thing I thought of when I heard long term. Some birthday present  Quote
Rasmus_ Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 It's a really tough loss. The leader in the room. No offense to Gionta, but this is ROR's team at the moment. Time to step up Eich's. Quote
pi2000 Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Gonna be a tough few weeks. I don't want them to tank again, but this is a huge loss. Wonder if this changes anything for trade deadline... prolly not. Quote

bob_sauve28 Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Just wonder if this was a nagging thing that got worse. God speed to our number one center Quote

I'm hoping Eichel feasts on a pathetic defensive core and goaltending situation.I hope so, but last time around they didn't have McDavid and we did have ROR. Then again, we were playing terribly, and so was Jack. Plus, they had RNH, and we didn't have Lehner. So many changes, and we haven't even hit the deadline yet. Both teams will be sellers, so the first matchup really shouldn't come into account at all Quote

Not in the effort department, but in the locker room, ect. I think we saw a flash of it on his assist to Samson for the hat trick, and I think given more responsibility he could really connect even further and become an even greater player. Quote

qwksndmonster Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) Eh. It's never really bothered me. They're not playing hockey, that's the part that matters to me. I don't care that it's specifically their sixth metatarsal that's injured. Edited February 22, 2016 by qwksndmonster Quote

Ah, great point here. I hadn't thought about the opportunity it presented Kane for just what you suggest. I don't think he has ever been leaned on as a locker room presence before, but there is a void for him to fill now. I think he's up for it, too. GO SABRES!!! Quote
That Aud Smell Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Man. Waking up anew to this realization. Very, very different scenarios and players, but it occurred to me that losing O'Reilly on this team this season is not unlike trading two NHL players for, among others, one guy out long term last season. Without ROR, this squad will struggle to stay out of the bottom 3. Maybe they'll surprise me, which would be fun. But I am not getting my hopes up. Quote
