WildCard Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 Pick a Swede, Linus or Lehner? Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 Well, if we offer them Dark Knight style tryouts, the obvious answer is Lehner. Quote

Thorner Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 Nailed it. :worthy: We need a Modo Bat Signal. Where is Modo. Maybe I've just missed his posts but I haven't seen any in a while. I'd like his opinion on this matter. Quote

Jsixspd Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 What happened to Lehner?? His stats returned to normal. His GAA is now up to 2.95; that's typical Lehner. His past two seasons at Ottawa - with approximately 60 games played - his average GAA was 3.04. I don't know why anyone would expect him to be better than his long-term averages. The question is - is that a good enough goal tender for a team looking to make a playoff push in the next couple seasons? Quote
Iron Crotch Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 Good thing Murray gave up a first round pick in a very deep draft to get Lehner. Quote
Marvelo Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) Lehner has such a small sample size the last few years, let alone in Bflo, that it's tough to understand what kind of pro goalie he can be. His fiery mentality I think has hurt his concentration and it seems that confidence is a huge factor for him, one way or the other. Right now, he's trying to get his sea legs under him after the injury and I think they're babying him along a bit -- not playing consecutive nights. He has never had to shoulder the physical load of being a true #1 goalie because of ineffective play and then injury, and TM took a chance on him, hoping he could be the sort of solid netminder he envisioned. But sometimes envisioning doesn't translate in real life. Edited February 12, 2016 by Marvelo Quote
Doohicksie Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 Most goalies don't play consecutive nights. Quote
Marvelo Posted February 12, 2016 Report Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) Makarov isn't happy. He didn't even get a chance with Buffalo. I think he's taking some shots at Lehner in this interview...Lehner might deserve these...he didn't even play well in the AHL before they brought him up to be the starter up here. http://thehockeywriters.com/andrey-makarov-not-happy-in-rochester/ Edited February 12, 2016 by Marvelo Quote

Hard to follow amerks, Linus had a good night vs devils even if they lost 0-1. But my obvious answer is Linus Ullmark, because i believe in him more than any other goalie. Answer to why is in the thread of Linus Ullmark - The swede we need I really believe Robin and Linus would do so much better together than Lehner/Johnsson or Johnsson/Ullmark. I just love this clip with Linus from amerks last game, that *sigh* and silence .. hahaha  "Sigh, ok lets go with the questions.. anyone?.. silence.." Doohicksie Posted February 14, 2016 Report Posted February 14, 2016 Linus is The One. At least over the long haul. I don't have a problem with him getting experience in the AHL though. When Linus snags the starter job, I think I'll change my handle to The One. Quote

That Aud Smell Posted February 15, 2016 Report Posted February 15, 2016 On Lehner. Seems like teams are, of late, focusing on getting a right-handed shot on the left-wing half wall (and vice versa) and trying to go high short side. And I'm noticing that there often seems to be space there, too. I think this dates back to a couple of bad ones he gave up during that poor stretch of play. Quote

This is where the good separate from the bad. If Lehner has a hole, he needs to work with his GT coach to fix it. If he can't or won't fix it, he going to flame out. And with him, it should be incredible to watch. Quote

He's played enough in the NHL that if he were going to exposed (as a non-evolver), I think it would've happened. The chess match is on, though. He seems capable of planning and making his moves.
