Sabres Fan in NS Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 And now this thread is getting interesting. PastaJoe and 11 ... dueling towels full of slop at 10 paces. Film at 11:00. Quote
bob_sauve28 Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 I totally recall seeing play in juniors! Quote

Mustache of God Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Reading this thread has got me like: Looking forward to seeing how Bailey skates with the big boys. Quote
ubkev Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 So, now that we have this recall thing totally straightened out... I'm very much looking forward to Bailey on the Sabres. Hopefully we get to see him for a few games and he gets more than 6 minutes per night. I look forward to posting Metroid pictures every time he does something good/bad/memorable. Quote
K-9 Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Glad Bailey is getting a shot, but for crissakes, Girgs just can't shake the injury bug this year. He's the perfect compliment to Eichel and whatever sniper they can find to add to that line. Damn. GO SABRES!!! Quote
Eleven Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Will he wear 13 (he has been previously assigned that), 95 (what he wants to wear), or a "Rip special"? Quote
That Aud Smell Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 The son they always wanted? Shots fired! Blue cheese everywhere! Oh, man. So good. Did the actually call him or message him? Maybe they "messaged him up"? Nice. I suspect it's the AHL coach who advises the youngster of the ... call. Well, the AHL coach, or Battista. Quote
Taro T Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Will he wear 13 (he has been previously assigned that), 95 (what he wants to wear), or a "Rip special"? Hopefully they let him wear what he wants. Would be kind of cool if a local kid became the 1st to wear that annoyingly high #. ;) Quote
That Aud Smell Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Will he wear 13 (he has been previously assigned that), 95 (what he wants to wear), or a "Rip special"? I've got a dozen Paula's donuts that says it'll be the bolded. I'll call for 58. Quote
darksabre Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) Rip Simonick can eat a bag of di*ks. Edited February 10, 2016 by d4rksabre Quote

Eleven Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 (edited) Not sure how close he is with his father but if its a 50, why not 54? Let me answer that by saying only that it is not likely to be his first choice. Edited February 10, 2016 by Eleven Quote
inkman Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 The son they always wanted? Maybe the brotha they always wanted  Quote
That Aud Smell Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 Rip Simonick can eat a bag of di*ks. I believe that's suck. Not eat. (Very NSFW, folks. And very hilarious.) Not sure how close he is with his father but if its a 50, why not 54? Quote
jsb Posted February 10, 2016 Report Posted February 10, 2016 This thread has gotten pretty luderous Quote
Hoss Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Posted February 10, 2016 Bill Hoppe @BillHoppeNHL According to the Sabres roster, Justin Bailey will wear Ken Priestlay and Steve Bernier's No. 56.    Somebody take a slapshot in the general direction of Rip Simonick or whoever the hell does this. Let him wear what he wants (which would probably be 95). Quote

Hoss Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Posted February 10, 2016 So close. He wore 56 in camp so I would've guessed 56 anyways. Quote

Hoss Posted February 10, 2016 Author Report Posted February 10, 2016 He definitely wants 95. Agreed on Rip. The guy has worked his ass off for the last eight or ten years to get here. Exactly. I'm still always about letting the players have what they want on the equipment end (within the rules). Some players feel most comfortable in a certain number or will feel most comfortable in a number they're allowed to pick. On top of that most guys will pick numbers that are far more visually appealing than 56. Quote

The guy has worked his ass off for the last eight or ten years to get here. Why not hold to a tradition that you get your number when you make the squad on a regular basis? Exactly. Immediate gratification. I'm not sure when that became a tradition. I can think of guys in recent memory who got to wear what they wanted as soon as they were called up. Biron comes to mind. (Then the league outlawed his number, but whatever.) Same with Pominville and that group, IIRC. Quote
