That Aud Smell Posted August 12, 2016 Author Report Posted August 12, 2016 Per Tim Graham I'm hearing upcoming Tyrod Taylor deal is not a bridge contract. Bills are all-in, maybe as long as six years (unsure on options). /winces. Hoo boy. Quote

Brawndo Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Per Graham Tyrod Taylor deal can be as long as six years, but contains team options. $90 million, but could be more with incentives. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted August 12, 2016 Author Report Posted August 12, 2016 it's all about guaranteed money, yeah? the way NFL deals work -- 6 years, 6 shmears. right? Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 it's all about guaranteed money, yeah? the way NFL deals work -- 6 years, 6 shmears. right? Indeed. I can only assume it'll be along the lines of the Kaepernick/Tannehill deals of a few years ago where the team can cut bait after any particular season for minimal cost. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted August 12, 2016 Author Report Posted August 12, 2016 Per Carruci: According to NFL sources, #Bills have protected themselves w options, but satisfied Tyrod Taylor's desire to avg. $15M per yr in salary. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 So does this mean EJ is out of the running as the starter? Quote
LGR4GM Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 So does this mean EJ is out of the running as the starter? Liger pops his head up, starts to opens his mouth, quietly closes it without saying anything, and just... smiles. Quote

Brawndo Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Deal could be worth over $100 million Quote
K-9 Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Deal could be worth over $100 million Let's hope it is. GO BILLS!!! Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Andrew Brandt @AndrewBrandt 6m6 minutes agoPhiladelphia, PA Tyrod Taylor deal likely to be one of those "up to $100 million" deals which means $25-30 million and then "we'll see how he's doing." Quote

Taro T Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 From the sounds of what's coming out, it should be a great deal for the Bills &, considering how short his resume is, a good deal for TT. Definitely prefer the way contracts are handled AR (after Ralph) vs DR (during Ralph). Even though this year they had to use a 1st to fill a hole, at least it was punting a guy that didn't fit rather than one that fit perfectly yet got nickled & dimed out of town. Will be interesting to see what they do 1st round next year. Draft Kyle Williams' eventual replacement or finally get a RT? Probably 1 round too early to get Aaron William's replacement or Wood's eventual replacement. (Would prefer not spending a 1st on a WR.) Now get Gilmore signed. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted August 12, 2016 Author Report Posted August 12, 2016 So, I heard a report (sorry if not precisely accurate), that the deal is basically as follows: Taylor gets $9.5 for the season upcoming, and then there's a team option in and for 2017 and beyond. If the team picks it up in 2017, Taylor gets ~$27M in 2017 (could some of that be bonus?) and the extension kicks in. Fair frickin' deal, I think. Quote

nfreeman Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Well, if the Bills can indeed get out after this year with zero cap hit other than the $9.5MM they are paying him this year, that is a very good deal for them. Quote

Hoss Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 This is f*ckin fantastic Jason Cole @JasonColeBR Only guarantee in Tyrod Taylor's deal is $7.5M he gets this year. Rest is make good, but hits free agency if #Bills don't pick up option Quote

Rest is make good, but hits free agency if #Bills don't pick up option DAMN. I imagine the additional $2M this year (it's been quoted at $9.5M) is in the form of easily achievable milestones. Still: A fair, fair deal. For both sides. Quote

Taro T Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Is that maybe the salary he was going to get prior to the extension? Reasonable guess. Was pretty sure he was slated @$2MM under the old contract this year. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted August 12, 2016 Author Report Posted August 12, 2016 Is that maybe the salary he was going to get prior to the extension? Ah, yes. Maybe? Still. That'd make the deal this year worth $9.5M guaranteed. Maybe just $7.5 in new guaranteed money. Quote
Hoss Posted August 13, 2016 Report Posted August 13, 2016 Yea, he means the $7.5 million in this new deal since he was already getting $2 million. He will get $9.5 million. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted August 13, 2016 Author Report Posted August 13, 2016 Now I've seen it iterated differently than anything above. Sophisticated deal. Good deal. Quote
