qwksndmonster Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 Kane had a great game yesterday. He was the driving force on his line, and Bylsma raved about his impact on the game and the impact his line had on the score sheet.I still want him to score 25+ goals for us. But the more I watch him, the more certain I become that it will never happen. Quote
Thorner Posted February 4, 2016 Report Posted February 4, 2016 I still want him to score 25+ goals for us. But the more I watch him, the more certain I become that it will never happen. Depends how long he is here for. I would wager it is very likely he scores 25 again in this league. Also, he has more assists than goals in his NHL career, so his assist potential can't be discounted either. I think he settles in at something near a 20 goal, 25/30 assist player. That's borderline 1st line, and definitely second line quality. I'm good with that, seeing as how I think/hope our second line is eventually going to be Kane - O'Reilly - Reinhart. Injuries could also be a factor. But his goal pace this year is 22 goals in an 82 game season, and this is considered a "down" year. 25 sometime soon is a very realistic possibility. Quote
Doohicksie Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 Hey guys, for the record, I tried to remove the pics from the hosting site last night but couldn't figure out how to do it from the mobile site. They will be gone in a few hours when I get to a real computer. Quote

I am much less optimistic than you are. He's a beast, no doubting that, but his offensive instincts are average at best. Quote

qwksndmonster Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) Disagree. See: the shift he just had.If he starts doing that with regularity, then sure. But I haven't seen it. I'll add that this is the second straight head coach that put Kane on the 3rd line. Why do that if he has good offensive instincts? Edited February 5, 2016 by qwksndmonster Quote
Thorner Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 If he starts doing that with regularity, then sure. But I haven't seen it. Fair enough. We are seeing what's been happening on the ice in regards to him a little differently, and that's ok. His game is resembling today's even more frequently recently, so that's good for everyone. What I am looking forward to is playoffs. His game is perfect for wearing down a team over the course of a series. His game screams playoff player, and I think Murray recognizes this too. Quote

That said, if he can be the primary offensive force on the 3rd line and get 20 goals and 45 points from that spot, that's a nice player to have. What we were hoping for? No, but I'm okay with it. I don't recall exactly how it went but, from what I can remember..... Kane doesn't use his linemates well. Putting him with two really good offensive players means two really good offensive players not used well. Put him with two guys that can make room for him, chip pucks to him, and be a defensive conscience, and let him put up his 50 points. Quote

For whatever it's worth, your theory on his play with skill players is strongly supported by the WOWY stats. Quote

In fact, I already know exactly what you think. You may continue living your life in ignorance, but please try to refrain from spewing it out on this board. Quote

qwksndmonster Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 You are an ignorant person. You can re-read the things you wrote in the Pat Kane thread if you'd like. I'm not at all interested in having a conversation with you about feminism. Quote

JJFIVEOH Posted February 5, 2016 Report Posted February 5, 2016 Qwk, you denigrate me on a public forum (which is ironic because that's something you oppose) and I'm OK with that. But if you're going to do so, at least have the balls to back it up with substantial reasoning. Where lies the ignorance in my posts? Quote
