Sabres Showdown

Reinhart looked really good. He annihilated those targets, and had a shot in the 90s, harder than ROR! He also scored 2/3 in the breakaway challenge. Yes, small sample size, but that did nothing to change my mind from the idea that Sam should be taking shootout attempts for us.

I was amazed Reinhart shot that hard. Kinda pissed they didn't let them at least finish the entire event

That's right!

If I remember correctly, he clanked the crossbar on shot 1 and then went 4-4.

The breakaway he missed was totally cheese for the cameras. He looked good.

Risto shoots 98??

They didn't? What did they miss?

They went in a different order than the other two, so I missed it.

Jack got pretty pissed about his poor target hitting. Him and ROR shoot so weird. I remember reading Quick's Player Tribune article about snipers, and he kept saying how it's those that can hide how/where they'll shoot that are the best. That's Jack.

Never would have guessed Reinhart would have out-muscled him on the hardest shot. I really hope they do this again next year so we can compare results

Risto shoots 98??

I'm certain he can hit 100 mph. He glided into the first attempt for 95 then charged the 2nd attempt for 98. A little tweak in the wrists or legs and hes at 100. He'll be there (in the 100 mph range) regularly in 6 months or so.

oh, and.....Jack was bad. Yeah, he was messing around having fun, but you could tell he wasn't powering up his shot deliberately, and I'm not sure what that accuracy attempt was....Other than ugly, that is.

It's fun to watch. I get the feeling a lot of the guys don't give a crap about it though. They are barely taking it seriously at all. I think it would be cooler if they made an event out of it -- a full team skills competition, maybe with some top Rochester prospects as well. Or maybe they do that already during training camp. I watched Edmonton's skill competition back before the all-star game and i enjoyed it.

It's kind of awkward watching them do these drills in pure silence although it makes for a little more lightheartedness among the guys & marty.
