FLYNNSanity Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) *For People who dont read the trade speculation thread* https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/status/689968007234371586?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw When the Tampa Bay Lightning assigned Jonathan Drouin to Syracuse it was explained the purpose of the assignment was twofold; (1) conditioning due to missed games from injury and (2) provide proof that he had completely recovered from his injury. Jonathan has now played seven games with Syracuse in the past (14) days. A few days ago, the Tampa Bay Lightning advised that a trade involving Jonathan was moving closer to completion. We proposed to Tampa that Jonathan not play in the next few AHL games but continue practicing with the club to avoid any potential injury from preventing an imminent trade. Unfortunately, the Tampa Bay Lightning refused this reasonable request, however, Jonathan was not willing to accept this risk. We have been advised that the Tampa Bay Lightning has suspended Jonathan. In light of the latest developments it is clearly in both sides best interests that the Tampa Bay Lightning trade Jonathan as there is no reason for Jonathan to continue with the Tampa Bay Lightning organization in any capacity. We will have no further comment as we await the Tampa Bay Lightning to conclude a trade that involves Jonathan Edited January 21, 2016 by FLYNNSanity Quote

K-9 Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 Stay as far away from this problem child as possible. "Problem child' being the operative phrase. GO SABRES!!! Quote
Neo Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 (edited) That' wont make it easier for Drouin to be traded. I can't imagine the agent advised this. Instead, I see him saying "No!" and then releasing a face saving (fail) statement after the suspension. I hope that's how it played out. If the advice was to "sit out", Drouin gets bad advice. Hoss Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 I think Drouin will be worth it. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 Let him sit. His value won't diminish between now and the end of the season. More than likely they'll get picks and/or prospects in return so the Lightning shouldn't expect something in return that will immediately help them make a playoff run (especially if they dump Stamkos before the deadline). Don't cave to this punk, let him sit. If teams start to cave to demands from these kids, it will just set a new standard moving forward that isn't beneficial. Quote

pi2000 Posted January 21, 2016 Report Posted January 21, 2016 Drouin is all hope, no performance. Less than Legwand Are you joking? He was playing on Tampa's 4th line and still put up 28 assists in 70 games as a 19 y/o. His reminds me a lot of Jordan Eberle. Quote

His reminds me a lot of Jordan Eberle. He is not anywhere close to Eberle status. There have been a ton of injuries on that team, and he still didn't crack the lineup, despite playing his most minutes with Stamkos. Drouin is not Seguin 2.0, this conversation wouldn't even be happening if he wasn't drafted so high. Which, by the way, happened to be because he played with MacKinnon Quote
