He's just holding spot till callup. Amazing how it takes injuries for Bylsma's lines to make sense, but I'll take it. Yeah, I'm incredibly pleased with this look, all things considered. I love Eichel-Okposo, and Foligno has yet to disappoint on Jack's wing. McCabe back with Risto makes me jump for joy. Will we see Fedun again? I haven't heard how long Gorges will be out. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted January 2, 2017 Report Posted January 2, 2017 Good to see McCabe with Risto, they have looked their best this season when paired together. Fedun in for Gorges is a decent improvement. Can't believe Josh, with a broken foot, was still getting twenty minutes against top lines. Yeah, I can believe it, actually. Quote
Brawndo Posted January 2, 2017 Report Posted January 2, 2017 https://www.nhl.com/sabres/video/jack-eichel-1117/t-277437090/c-47966903?utm_source=t.co&utm_medium=referral He's still pretty PO'd, which is a good thing. Quote
Doohicksie Posted January 2, 2017 Report Posted January 2, 2017 Call me weird, but this would be the perfect time for Gionta to give the C to Jack. Quote
nfreeman Posted January 2, 2017 Report Posted January 2, 2017 Larsson has a dislocated elbow and wrist and is still hospitalized in Boston. Long term injury. Yikes. That sounds bad. Looks like its make or break time for Zemgus. Yes indeedly. Separately: what happened to Kulikov? Quote

bunomatic Posted January 2, 2017 Report Posted January 2, 2017 I just don't think it works like that Nor is Jack ready. He needs to work on his own game. Quote

inkman Posted January 2, 2017 Report Posted January 2, 2017 Johan Larsson told a Swedish Newspaper his season is over So he's become a Sabres fann as well. Quote
dudacek Posted January 3, 2017 Report Posted January 3, 2017 A PK specialist on the worst PK in the NHL? A forward who is now past 70 NHL games without a goal (must be approaching some kind of record for forwards)? Why would that bother you? From the Buffalo News: "With no goals in 72 career games, Sabres center Derek Grant is inching toward history. Only two forwards have ever played more games without scoring. Enforcer Gord Dwyer had no goals in 108 games, while Tim Sestito was scoreless in 101 games. Grant has taken 30 shots in 32 games with the Sabres this season. He has 88 shots in 72 games with Ottawa, Calgary and Buffalo." Quote

In Tim's defense, he played for the devils, and I like him as a person. Grant blows. Quote
Doohicksie Posted January 3, 2017 Report Posted January 3, 2017 Johan Larsson told a Swedish Newspaper his season is over So it looks like the people who want to see Samson at center win. Sounds like a gruesome injury if it's keep him out the rest of the year. I hope he recovers and can play next year; he's proven to be a valuable member of the team. Quote

I want Larry in the lineup, but if it forces Dan to play Sam where he belongs, and gives one of the young Amerk wingers a shot on a scoring line, it's not a bad thing in this lost season. It also could mean a more team-friendly contract, too. Of course, I'm expecting more prime time for Moulson and DLo, third line duty for Grant, and Larry to decide it will better in Sweden next year. Because Buffalo (am I doing this right?) Quote

Because Buffalo (am I doing this right?) The bolded might turn out to be the case, all snark aside. Larry is exactly the middle-class of player that the last couple CBAs and the salary cap are squeezing out of the league. Teams aren't going to want / be able to spend a few million on this type of guy with pressing needs above and cheaper players available below. Quote
nfreeman Posted January 3, 2017 Report Posted January 3, 2017 The injuries have created openings for: - Reino -- at #2 center with decent-to-good wings - Zemgus -- at #3 center - Bailey Seize the day, boys. Quote
Brawndo Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 ROR back at practice Lines: Foligno-Eichel-Okposo Kane-Reinhart-Bailey Grant-O'Reilly-Gionta Deslauriers-Girgensons-Moulson Carrier & McCabe not practicing. Quote
Doohicksie Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 Those lines are very interesting. ROR is centering the #3 line? It's hard to describe it as any more than that with Grant and Gio on his wings. Does DD see ROR as being the 3rd line (i.e., defensive shutdown) center once Eichel and Samson are ready for top 6 center duty? I'd like to see Carrier in place of DLo; we'll see how that plays out tomorrow. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 That would be my center spine, at least for a little while. Carrier onto ROR's wing to get Grant on 4th line and Des out of lineup, then hopefully Baptiste up to take Grant out. If he wants to move someone to wing then, I'd try ROR on Eichel's wing, because we've seen like 10 minutes of that over the past two seasons. I want moar. Quote

WildCard Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 ROR and Reinhart need to switch Grant and Des need to leave So Larry is going o be our 4th line center? Quote
jsb Posted January 4, 2017 Report Posted January 4, 2017 ROR and Reinhart need to switch So Larry is going o be our 4th line center? A month ago I'd agree with the bolded but Samson has stepped it up in the middle and that trio was downright dangerous last night. I'd like to see what they can do together for a period of time. In fact I think Kane and Bailey make up for SR's shortcomings and I think his passing ability can open up some lanes for the speed boys. If Reino works out at C, Larry's a goner. Quote
