I'm guessing the top is for broiling and that both can't be used at once in that oven. Although, you could get a nice browning effect by switching to broil after it's baked a bit. Hmm.

This is accurate. Only the bottom element is on during baking.

All the way to Pennsylvania, apparently.

I have chunked up a bit. I was serious. That's a solid weight loss. I just don't know what weight shifting is.

And you know I was kidding.

So while I've lost 14 lbs., I've also moved some from my waistline and into my upper body and legs, in the form of muscle.  That's not weight lost, but it is weight shifted.

About 10 more, either lost or shifted, and I'll look like I did at 27.

EDIT or 40.  I looked the same at 27 as 40.  Not kidding.

I would have never guessed. You have the eternal outlook of someone much younger.

Edit.

A very simple complement. Not sure if it came across as such. I felt compelled .

A couple drinks.

Late at night and very tired, but can't sleep.

No coyote ugly posts by me. Had me worried, especially when I saw the E Kane thread.

Oh hell yes. My momma used to make elderberry pie. Wait... did you mean the crows?

I assume that's why your father smelt of elderberries. Wait, was your mother a hampster?

(I only skimmed the thread, I hope no one else made that joke already since it's GOLD!)

Was a tradition on New Years Eve on Mom's side ( thought it was a Polish thing (?)). Turned Mrs. Racer on to it and we have it all the time. We put it out when company comes over and we get looked at like we grew a third head. You are the only other person I know that likes pickled fish.

If you like this, the Swedish have this smoked fish spread that comes in a tube. My brother-n-law gets it IKEA.  It's a hit with us also.

It's a Christmas Eve tradion for the Polish side of my family, which does a short version of Wigilia. Mushroom soup, herring, roasted potatoes, pirogi. Sometimes there's sauerkraut thrown in there too.

I laughed, then googled.

I forgot about the mushroom soup!

Did you have an Easter soup tradition?

Stock is based off of the pan drippings from sausage and ham. Then each person adds to *make* their own. Ingredients where Easter eggs (hard boiled), ham, sausage (fresh and smoked), horseradish, butter (butter lamb), the big round loaf of bread that is cubed ( I just know it as Easter bread).

We do an ice boxcake thing.... with those old fashion chocolate wafers and hand wipped cream -takes forever- then each wafer doloped with whipped cream lined up together in log fashion, then creme demint drolled up and down the length and put in the frige overnite. Wafers absorb the moisture and turn into cake. Very good the next day.

Never heard of it, to be honest. Easter was always more the English side of the family though; I don't have a strong memory of doing anything particularly Polska for it.

Sorry if this was covered upthread.

To the Buffalo types who've made this delectable pancake concoction: Is it similar in concept to the Dutch Baby of the Original Pancake House in Wmsvll?

Hey bud!

I looked this  Dutch Baby  up, it sure looks similar looking on pictures and recipe.

Diffrence is nutmeg and no sugar, time of cooking and heat in the oven.

But then again the recipes differ some when googling it.

Id say its very similar!

Talk of the phat panny got me thinkin' about the flour. MODO, do you know what flour on this list is most like what you use?

http://joepastry.com/2009/american_aamp_european_flour_rough_equiv/

Hmm.

By the looks of the kind of flours and whetmeal u got, id say American all-purpose or American bread flour.

Ours is plain white and looks like those 2 above.
