Carter! (Said like Jerry saying Newman!)

haha I almost bought that exact pan today. Wilton, 2 inches deep. I got the shallower one. Now I am convinced you need the deep sides.

Nice job. That's beautiful.

I've already finished the entire pan. They were excellent.

Here's what I did. When in doubt go easy on the flour. This is like making waffles. The milk and egg are what do all the fluffing.

I eyeballed the measurements. Going by feel seemed logical. When I put it in the pan it was quite soupy. It started puffing up after 10 mins.

My gosh. I want more. Tomorrow...

Man I am envious , will have try it out on my boys one day next week when I am off from work. Now we need to teach Modo with visuals how to make Buffalo wings!

This looks so much like Yorkshire pudding, but it's sweet? Very curious...

I hadn't thought of that but yes. Pretty much the same base.

Btw I like the Lingonberry. It's a little tart, which is nice.

It only has two tablespoons of sugar. You could go with savory toppings, maybe a cheese sauce with crumbled bacon.

That just means you need to top it with that much more sugar!

Interesting. Hearing someone else (wjag?) describe it as eggy makes me think it's not far off, especially if you forgo the sugar crust (Neo's looked more like dessert). I've never made Yorkshire pudding, but my mom used to on occasion and I always liked it. Cringing a bit at the idea of using whole milk, though. I've had ligonberry and I agree, it's a nice change of pace.

Alright boys. I'm making a half batch because I'm all by myself tonight. Here's what I've got about 12 minutes in:

You can get those here in Texas; they call them German Pancakes and/or Dutch Babies.  They're not served with lingonberries though; usually with fresh squeezed lemons, powdered sugar and whipped butter.

I swear my downstairs looks like the Aud during game 3 of the finals in 75! Faick! I had to take it out and turn the oven off, there was so much smoke. Finally the alarm went off. You never get the batteries out of those things. It would have been perfect if I could have left it in. Photos to come. Also, film at 11.

Hahaha .. you just made my day sir!!

Oh my god, ok so lets get real.

Well done, your phat panny looks exactly like it should. 10 out 10!! How was the taste?

It really is delicious. I held back on the white sugar to two tablespoons. I think we Americans always want to overdo it with the sweets. It came out very eggy. It's a great vehicle for whatever you top it with. I went with raspberry spread and Nutella. Fantastic. For those who are going to try it, it'll take longer than 30 minutes. More like at least 45. I was on my way to phanny nirvana until The Breach. Maybe I need a deeper pan.

In all seriousness thanks for doing this MODO. It's one phat panny for man, one giant panny for U.S. Sweden relations!

I laughed so hard to your previous post that i missed out on this one. :D

Good to hear, very well done!!!!

About the time, i guess it depends on the ovens we all have and the difference between them, the important thing is the degrees 400 F and heating from both up and down, all ovens should have this option i believe.

Once again, superb my friend!

I think I nailed it.

Can't wait!! :)

Tears, I tell ya! Phuckin' tears from laughing so hard!

+1 hahahaha .. still laughing :D

This is awesome! Awesome place too Mr Modo.

Do we have ovens that heat top and bottom at the same time here?

Thanks bud! :)

I thought all ovens had this option? Never seen one without. But obviously im wrong :D

"MODO hockey here (whistles). Eh ###### it"

Holy ###### Modo, your view is amazing. That is one hell of a place you have there

Was a tradition on New Years Eve on Mom's side ( thought it was a Polish thing (?)). Turned Mrs. Racer on to it and we have it all the time. We put it out when company comes over and we get looked at like we grew a third head. You are the only other person I know that likes pickled fish.

If you like this, the Swedish have this smoked fish spread that comes in a tube. My brother-n-law gets it IKEA.  It's a hit with us also.

My dad and his sisters always joked about it as the new years tradition that their grandma Podlewski would subject them too. A few year ago I decided to revive it as a joke and discovered I really liked it.

Where do you get the herring? I can't find any good herring here. Not even at Wegman's.

Wegmans. They usually have the Altman's in a cooler by the meat. This Blue Hill stuff I've got comes from the cooler in the deli.

Check the website for your Wegmans. If they have it it'll tell you what aisle it's hiding in.

The one on Amherst St. very infrequently has Altman's, and that's about it.

This topic is OLD. A NEW topic should be started unless there is a VERY SPECIFIC REASON to revive this one.
