MattPie Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 It's not a pretty solution, but the last few work laptops I've had I stuck some velcro on the lid so I could stick an external drive to it when I'm using it. It's nice that I can pick up the laptop and move it without breaking connectors with dangling drives. :) Quote
LGR4GM Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 What would be the difference between 4gb and 8gb of Memory. Is that enough to notice? I ask because Dell has a deal and the difference between the 4gb and 8gb is that the 4 is on sale for over 100dollars less but they have all the same specs otherwise. STD, I5 processor etc... Quote

If you won't have any serious programs running simultaneously hogging upup all your memory, you can get away with 4gb. As has been mentioned, Windows has become more mobile friendly so the amount of RAM required to run it has actually gone down with each new version. As long as you a SSD then you can get away with maxing out your RAM on occasion because the computer stores the memory on your hard drive if the RAM gets maxed out. With a standard hard drive that fragments the drive which isn't good, but it's not an issue with a SSD. I wouldn't recommend 4gb in this day and age, but it's easier to get away with it now than in the past. Personally, I wouldn't want my fingers all over a computer with an STD....... but that's just me. Quote
