Samson's Flow
Sweet graph, thanks for sharing  Well they're right there with all of the best teams in the league, the 2nd chart of such that depicts how well we've been playing, but how ###### our luck has been. Plus, we've had 3 reversed goals ... and Toronto.
WildCard
... and Toronto. Mike Babcock has a poor team playing very well; better than they should be at least
Hoss
... and Toronto. They've been much better than expected aside from their record. Maybe Babcock really does know a thing or two. Dallas is such an interesting team right now. They're dominating and capitalizing on their opportunities. Is that something they can continue or are they do for a "puck luck" slump? I do agree that sometimes you create your own puck luck, though. Have to get guys who can finish. There's been some beautiful opportunities on the sticks of guys like Moulson and Kane where they just whiffed bad. Hopefully Kane's time off has helped him refocus a bit. Dallas is playing so well right now a lot of their chances are on breakaways and two-on-ones due to their team speed. You are going to have elevated shooting % when you have such quality scoring chances.
TrueBlueGED
Hate to be a debbie downer here (yeah right), but I fear that puck luck will be one of the casualties of this season. I fear that DB's system is working well, we just don't have the finishers beyond Jack, Sam and Ryan. Moulson appears to be hitting a wall. Who's going to score from the back end besides Risto? I actually think plenty of people see it as you do. I do, anyway. The way I see this team's build is the centers will be counted on to elevate the play of the wingers, but when 2/3 of them are 19 year old rookies that elevation is going to be inconsistent. If we can get a five-game look at: McGinn O'Reilly Ennis Moulson Eichel Girgensons Kane Reinhart Gionta Deslauriers Larsson Foligno I will be a happy man (Don't give me that Kane can't be on the third, this is about three balanced lines at even strength and an energy line.) Would you settle for five periods of those lines? I think that's the best you could possibly hope for :p

We still need more scoring on the wings, but I expect our scoring prowess from that position will pick up now that Kane is back.
WildCard
Well, Kane is a sniper, no? And Eichel is a sniper, so we should put them both on the same line!
Thorner
Well, Kane is a sniper, no? And Eichel is a sniper, so we should put them both on the same line! Eichel is a playmaker. A playmaker who also happens to have a wicked shot. Combined with his other attributes....Franchise player.

Kane will definitely get his points, but due to his shot selection he's not exactly gonna make that ol' team shooting percentage look too hot while doing so. But while our shooting % seems to be significantly low right now, he should at least help that trend towards a more "normal" level. We are getting lots of shots, but not scoring. Kane will take lots of shots, yes, and he will at least score.
Doohicksie
I think Bylsma will be working on the 5-on-3 in practice.
LTS
Said in the STL GDT. Sabres are scoring better than Detroit and Anaheim. I don't feel bad.
Thorner
I think Bylsma will be working on the 5-on-3 in practice. Not only 5-on-3s, they should spend some time working on 3-on-3 as well.
qwksndmonster
Well, Kane is a sniper, no? And Eichel is a sniper, so we should put them both on the same line! I wouldn't call Kane a sniper. Can you imagine a real life sniper taking as many low % shots as he does? "Wait a minute guys, that one might've hit him. Nope... Nope... Taking the shot. And again. And again."

woods-racer
The power play stinks Fix that and all will be fine Some one posted a great article about the 05-06 season and our perception that calling all the clutch/grab/mugging penalties resulted in more goal scoring. The moral of the story IMO was that 5x5 scoring remained constant, but due to the increase in penalties per game scoring was up. So to your point. If you want to win, you have to score on the power play. There is just to much parity and good defensive hockey played league wide to win constantly 5x5. TrueBlueGED
The power play stinks Fix that and all will be fine The 5 on 3 does, but the overall PP was top-5 in the league heading into last night.
LTS
Posted in the Ennis thread... summarized here: 17 of Sabres first 24 games are against teams that are higher than they are in the GA ranking in the NHL. The Sabres are 17. I don't think everyone else can say that yet. Give it time.
nfreeman
A not-so-pleasant update: through 21 games, the Sabres have now scored 1 goal or less 9 times and have scored 2 goals in another 4 of their games. They are 4th-last in goals per game and 5th-last in 5x5 scoring. On the positive side, they are 13th in shots per game and 9th in fewest shots against per game. Nashville is 8th best in lowest GA so things should be looking up. Sabres are now at 16 at least.
