darksabre Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Maybe they should just stay onside? Maybe the refs should earn their paychecks? Quote
Huckleberry Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) Just don't get it, there should be a time limit on the challenge. They were in the dallas zone for 25 seconds after the offside. Oh its a goal lets do a challenge on that. Edited November 18, 2015 by Huckleberry Quote
Randall Flagg Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 The only time I've ever seen it is in Sabres games - I've watched a lot of Red Wings games this year, and haven't seen it happen. There have been plenty of coach challenges. Quote
GoPre Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 When watching a Bills a game and there's a long td, one of the first things to rush into my head is a please no flag. Now when watching a Sabres game, it's a please no offsides. Quote

Thats the problem i have with the challenge. They cycle it around, and get set and what not. If it was a rush, then the challenge is fine imo. but if they cycle for more than 20 seconds, I think it's a moot point Quote

Now when watching a Sabres game, it's a please no offsides. I was having the same thought. It sucks the fun out of the game, you can't enjoy the moment because there's always the nagging suspicion in the back of your mind that's saying "is this going to be called back?" Quote
hockeyhound Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) I hate this coach's challenge BS so much I'm about ready to be against video review entirely. I get it, offsides is offsides and it should be called during the game; however, the video review kills the momentum, and we lose precious time. The energy went right out of the building. I wish the refs would just do there job instead of letting the play go on. It wastes time when your behind; we should get the minutes put back on the clock from the time Ennis went offside till the goal. The refs mistake, why should we have to pay for it. WildCard Posted November 18, 2015 Author Report Posted November 18, 2015 This is such absolute bull . It is ruining the game Quote
Jsixspd Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 Told ya the game was over with that coaches' challenge BS. Quote
WildCard Posted November 18, 2015 Author Report Posted November 18, 2015 Every single time. EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's makes me not even want to watch. I get the coach's challenge, but offsides? That's like challenging balls and strikes. It's just, plain old, dumb Quote
Huckleberry Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 I'm so pissed. they should put a 15 second time limit on that challenge. Quote
WildCard Posted November 18, 2015 Author Report Posted November 18, 2015 I'm so pissed. And you know what really sucks about that? There is not a single thing we can do about it Quote
darksabre Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 I get the coach's challenge, but offsides? That's like challenging balls and strikes. It's just, plain old, ###### dumb I think that's literally what I said in the last GDT where this came up. Quote
Stoner Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 I get the coach's challenge, but offsides? That's like challenging balls and strikes. It's just, plain old, ###### dumb Why not icing? Did a player gain the red line before shooting it in 35 seconds before you score? What's the difference. The NHL sucks the life right out of the game and spits it out on Brad May's tissue. Quote

Mustache of God Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 I don't understand the logic of the NHL. As the least popular Big 4 sport, they seem to want to eliminate fighting and scoring replacing them with interference and passing? Let's get rid of the fun stuff, replace it with and then throw in challenges to kill any momentum the game has. Quote
Stoner Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 ###### this Gionta out with the empty net ######. He was out there from about the four minute mark. Unbelievable. Quote

The only time I've seen it is in Sabres games; and it always goes against the Sabres. And the Sabres never challenge and win. Seems like a crock; wished a bunch of fans could escort those officials right out to their cars and explain its in their best interest to get out of town and maybe not return? Heck, they do that at soccer games in the 3rd world - lol Quote
Ottosmagic13 Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 That leaves such an ugly taste in the mouth Quote

DumbPuck Posted November 18, 2015 Report Posted November 18, 2015 What I find odd is that they have this video review coaches challenge when goals are scored as if that's the only important hockey play. Why can't any missed call be reviewed? Perhaps a missed cross check or a missed slash / high stick etc... I don't want it to be like this, but I find it odd that they've selected a subset of missed calls that can be reviewed: those that occurr right before a goal but not those that could have put a team in a position to score a goal ( like a PP).
