WildCard Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) The Dallas Stars will saunter into downtown Buffalo tonight for a clash of familiar foes as head coach Lindy Ruff returns to his old stomping grounds. The Sabres look to rebound from a tough 2-1 OT loss Saturday night at the hands of the Sharks, though to be fair it was one in which many fans and players will tell you we had no business being in. Moving on though. The Sabres will try once again to surmount the vaunted .500 line for the first time in a long time, and maintain their playoff aspirations and winning ways recently, going 5-2 in their last 7. The Stars on the other hand, couldn't be hotter. Arguably the best team in the league, and undoubtedly a serious Cup contender, the Stars will look to continue their current streak of 5-1, including a 2 game winning streak (3-2 win against Minnesota on Saturday night) and 8-2 in their last 10. The Stars, 2nd in the league in goals (65), trailing only Montreal(67) and ahead of the NYR (57), look to maintain a Central Division lead that has seen them come out at a franchise record start of 14-4-0. I would say look for Ullmark to start, but honestly I ###### this portion up every time, so bet on Johnson. The Stars rotate a platoon of Lehtonen (9 gp) and Niemi (10 gp) so it's another ###### shoot for who starts for them too. I will update in the morning. The Stars will also get back Moen and Eaves, though Moen skated with the 5th line. The Sabres meanwhile are hopeful to get Bogosian back as the formidable blue-liner has finally returned to practice in a full role. However, DD was reluctant to pencil Bogosian in. Saturday's game also saw the leave, and return, of Zemgus after a brutal hit at his own blue line. Zemgus was absent from practice on Monday, though was not ruled out for tonight's game; DD cited bruises and wear-and-tear for Zemgus (Word to the wise, don't post a new topic shortly after posing in another thread, you will lose that entire topic) Game PreviewStats:All Team RankingsTeam Comparison ChartMonday's Practice Report The message defensemen have received from coaches, [Risto] said, is “Keep your head up and shoot.” “Even in the offensive zone it’s been a five-man unit and our defensemen have been a big part of that, not just Rasmus,” Bylsma said. “We’ve had a lot more shots, a lot more activity, a lot more including of defenseman and I think you’re probably going to see other guys’ numbers be a little bit higher than they were last year as well.” Forwards: 26 Matt Moulson – 90 Ryan O'Reilly – 12 Brian Gionta22 Johan Larsson – 15 Jack Eichel – 63 Tyler Ennis82 Marcus Foligno – 59 Tim Schaller – 23 Sam Reinhart44 Nicolas Deslauriers – 17 David Legwand – 88 Jamie McGinn Defensemen: 4 Josh Gorges, 55 Rasmus Ristolainen, 29 Jake McCabe, 47 Zach Bogosian, 3Mark Pysyk, 46 Cody Franson, 25 Carlo Colaiacovo Goalies: 31 Chad Johnson35 Linus Ullmark Edited November 17, 2015 by WildCard Quote

... Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 Loving the gameday previews, WC. I think we could all use a good hockey game right about now, and Lindy has his team firing on all cylinders. Haven't caught a Dallas game, yet, this season, so I will be particularly interested in comparing each teams' system against the others'. At least as much as I can identify. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 Your Team Comparison Chart leads us right back to this thread. Maybe it's time we sent you down to Rochester for a few games. Quote
GoPre Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 Great work, Wildcard. So Bo is a go tonight? Very happy if he is. Quote
3putt Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 If heavy, skilled and tough to play against is the grail, Dallas is certainly the latest iteration. Their goaltending is still suspect in my opinion, but they will bring pressure all night at a quick pace. Good yardstick as to where we are as a squad. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 I'm looking to see how young Sam looks against a top western conference team, and to see if eichel can bring back any source of domination we saw earlier this year, it's been 2 subpar games and if we're going to go places he will inevitably be a big part of it. Hope bogo comes back, but don't expect a ton if he's not 100% especially if it's a groin, I just don't want him to reaggravate anything Let's go boys, make tonight worth it!!! Quote

Huckleberry Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 I'll be watching tonight as well, been a while since I've been able to see a Sabres game live :D Quote
The Dominator Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 Priceless. Even when WC gets it right, he doesn't get it right. Can't wait to see Bogo make his debut, is it confirmed he will play tonight? Quote
bob_sauve28 Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 Ruff's quest for the Grail seems to be going well. Got a good team Quote
apuszczalowski Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 The Stars can't be that good, they have lost to the Leafs twice this season..... Quote
Doohicksie Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) It could be the coaching matchup/style of play. But yeah, I've had the same thought. Looking forward to a W tonight. Edited November 17, 2015 by The Big Johnson Quote

Was pretty pissed because I lost the first version being an idiot so I was rushing it  It should work now. And thanks, Thanes and Sizzle  Priceless. Even when WC gets it right, he doesn't get it right. Can't wait to see Bogo make his debut, is it confirmed he will play tonight? Right? I don't think I've gotten the goalie right the past 4-5 tries, even with practice reports and game previews. DD is really screwing me over here Quote
