jsb Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 As further proof of his improvement, he started the year at 9-10 minutes of TOI, by the end of October he averaged about 13 minutes, it kicked up to around 15 minutes in November but the last 3 games he's coming in at just under 19 minutes. I don't think it's a coincidence that Bylsma is much more confident with Samson also. A little extra PP time and he'll be in the 20's sooner than later. His scoring isn't outstanding but he's on track for 20 goals this season and I think the more he plays on that #1 line his assists will pick up also. Not a bad rookie campaign if he can keep it going. Quote
LGR4GM Posted December 2, 2015 Report Posted December 2, 2015 Nice observation BJ. Jack has a lot to learn on the defensive side, but at least he back checks like his hair's on fire. I wish O'Reinhart time would just become "center practice." What makes O'Reilly such a great player is his blend of strength and skill. The way he's able to so cleanly stick check and pick off passes is only possible because he tries like Zemgus and has hands and balance like Vanek. I'm losing my mind over how Sam's play is already starting to resemble O'Reilly's. Several times in the last few games I've noticed him creating turnovers by squaring up and taking space away from the puck holder. Given how much Sam's speed and strength have improved since last year, I think he'll be even better than O'Reilly. I always think of Kane as the lancer on that line, because his style is so different. He's the finisher and the hammer. I like. ROR mentoring Reinhart is one of the best things to happen. It keeps ROR sharp and helps Reinhart improve. Will be interesting to see where they are by the end of the season. Also because they practice extra together I think they are developing chemistry with one another. Quote

There are rumors that Ryan has asked Sam to hang out away from the ice later this week. He stressed to Sam that it was not a date, but there was notable romantic tension in the air when Sam agreed. Agree. But the other thing that I love about Kane is he uses his speed and size very effectively on the backcheck. Offensive specialist, but not a defensive liability. Quote

DirtDart Posted December 3, 2015 Report Posted December 3, 2015 I think that's the point of GMTM trades. They don't win on paper perhaps, but there is another level to his trades that can't be assessed with facts and figures. He's not winning trades, he's building a team. I know that since the beginning of the season my opinion of Leggy has changed (to be more inline with what I thought of him earlier in his career). Very accurate assessment. Quote
