Hoss Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 http://www.tsn.ca/on-eve-of-season-nhl-acknowledges-more-players-using-cocaine-1.372075 Worth the read. There was an article on deadspin a while back with a PR guy or agent where he detailed the problems different sports have. He said the NHL has an alcohol and cocaine problem. Stoll's arrest could be a breaking point. Quote
Stoner Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 The drug lottery should be televised. Quote
WildCard Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 A coke problem is God's way of telling you you have too much money Quote
Thwomp! Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 This thread is going to be gold! (Insert Seinfeld reference here) Oh and any early bets on what drugs were in Kassian's system? :) Quote
That Aud Smell Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 What in the name of Danny Gare is going on in the NHL?! Quote
Stoner Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 Did I read that right? The NHL tests for cocaine — knows its use is increasing — but it's not a bannable offense? Is it possible the league's interest is maintaining its reputation as the lily-white league whose good guy players just like to have a beer on the team bus? Quote
darksabre Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 Did I read that right? The NHL tests for cocaine — knows its use is increasing — but it's not a bannable offense? Is it possible the league's interest is maintaining its reputation as the lily-white league whose good guy players just like to have a beer on the team bus? I think it's just the opposite. I think the league knows who its players are. If anything, it's a refreshing acceptance of the drug abuse culture that is pervasive in a lot of sports. That it exists in the NHL isn't a shock to anyone who studies the history of the game. It is possible that there aren't athletes anywhere who have a history of partying harder than NHLers. Could you imagine if the league came out tomorrow and said "we're not worried about our players using recreational drugs. They're pro athletes and this is what pro athletes do. We'll work to prevent drugs from being used during the games, but off the ice...they can live how they want." Stuff that family friendly image, Chet and Muffy! Quote
ubkev Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 Who the hell still does coke? Typical NHL, still behind the times. Quote
pi2000 Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 I'm sure it was worse back in the 80's and 90's, but it sounds like it's making a comeback. Good that the league is making this public, time to do something about it, kids are ruining their lives. Quote
Weave Posted October 5, 2015 Report Posted October 5, 2015 1985 called and wants its substance abuse back. Quote

IKnowPhysics Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Cocaine is definitely "fashionable" right now and it has been for about two to three years. It might as well be snowing in Los Angeles. Quote
Marvelo Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Hopefully Kassian will straighten himself out. He's still young so there's hope. Quote
Huckleberry Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 (edited) Cocaine is definitely "fashionable" right now and it has been for about two to three years. It might as well be snowing in Los Angeles. Been an easy accessible and cheap drug in europe for 20 years now, I know alot of users or former users. Just weird it isn't bannable offense because cocaine is forbidden in most sports. Edited October 6, 2015 by Huckleberry Quote

I was pretty surprised when I discovered how many people I knew were doing it in college a few years ago even here in upstate. I guess it's only gotten more popular since. Quote
darksabre Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 With the amount of Ronald Regan ballwashing in the last Republican debate, I'm not surprised cocaine is making a comeback. Donald Trump is one linen suit away from being the bad guy in Roadhouse. Quote
