Just as naive as it is to think that you know somebody from watching him in games and videos, it's equally naive to assume you know nothing about a person from watching him in interviews, demeanor on the ice, social media, and past history.

I know it's an unpopular mainstream opinion to have in the USA in 2015, but I believe you CAN know things about a famous athlete by carefully observing him. My mistake is posting my concerns on a Sabres board where only positive observations and speculation are allowed and appreciated.

I was agreeing with you that you have seen him enough to have a good idea about his character. Not sure how you took my post but I wasn't being sarcastic or anything.

Let's imagine a spectrum

Kumbaya ------------------Respectful Teammate ---------------------Alpha Posturing/Difficult Personality-------------------------Cancer in the Locker Room

I'm not basing my opinion on Kane from one headtap. From everything I've seen and heard, I look with suspicion at every little thing Kane does.

Nobody wants to talk about it so I'll stop. But we're going to be talking about this eventually, and it won't be me who starts the thread.

Well if you're going to do that, you might as well just disown the Sabres now.

Oh FFS it's sports. If he gives Ryan a little swat on the bum should we extrapolate that out too?

A pat on the butt is further assertion of Kane's desire for alpha male dominance. It's only a matter of time before he is peeing on O'Reilly's locker stall to mark his territory.

GO SABRES!!!

It's just a bit of a foregone narrative is all.

I follow the guy on Instagram. By all appearances, he is a SUPER DOOOOOOOSH. I mean, pretty far the funk out there.

But I'm also aware that pro sports teams can absorb (adsorb?) personalities stronger than his, and succeed.

So I'd rather take a wait and see attitude on whether the ROR/Eichel-led Sabres can do that, than start in with the "oh ho ho, just you wait and see, folks" on E. Kane.

I don't think you're being shouted down.

There is certainly a non-negligible risk that Kane turns out to be a problem.

I just think most here don't agree with your read on the head-taps, and most want to give Kane the benefit of the doubt and a fresh start.

Bingo.

Not too disappointed with last night.

* I thought the young d pairs looked a little lost at times, especially with loose pucks.

* Loved the looks that KOE can give on a single shift. That is going to be fun to watch.

* Lehner didn't impress, but those goals were not entirely on him either.

* Samson was impressive either, he has the right instincts. If he makes the team, he won't light the world on fire. But i don't think he'll be a liability.

*EKane's shoulder looks fine. Ask Wideman.

I've already noticed through interviews with others that Kane hasn't been as warmly embraced by those around him as say Eichel or O'Reilly.

It's not what people say, it's what they don't say.

Not reading anything into it other than he's not someone to inspire immediate warm fuzzies.

Won't matter if he produces.

Rodrigues looked better than his plus/minus.

Posts about Samson will be my personal cross to bear this year.

The Ennis line was electric. I haven't seen anything like that since mogilny lafontaine.

No supplemental discipline for Akeson. "Feet on the ice when he hit and while there was head contact is was unavoidable"

I thought it was a clean hit when I saw it. I saw pictures later that looked high, but he's never been known as a dirty player.

We're you at the game? From the far end it looked like a flying forearm.

I didn't make it to the game. On the NHL feed I watched once and thought it looked clean. Still shots the next day showed him in the air, but that could have been follow through. Either way, tough hit.
