Weave Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 Just got a Twitter hit that Ted Black is fired. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 No joke. Saw it on the Twitter. Link soon. https://twitter.com/WGRZSports/status/625695671912398848 Quote

Hoss Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 Sabres say they mutually agreed to part ways Russ Brandon named president of the Sabres Quote
That Aud Smell Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) You missed it by at least 30 seconds. :P It was posted elsewhere? Man. Also: Can someone remind me how to edit a topic's title? This is evidently being styled as a mutual parting of ways. {Edit: No longer needed, as my thread merged with weave's. But, still: How do you do it again?} wow. Battista! seriously. {Edit: Brandon?!} Edited July 27, 2015 by That Aud Smell Quote
nobody Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 Makes sense in terms of marketing - but wow. Paul Hamilton @pham1717 2m2 minutes ago Russ Brandon will become both President of the Bills and Sabres. Quote

WildCard Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 Heavy workload for Russ, I wonder if he can juggle both jobs Quote
tom webster Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 Russ Brandon? Yuck. I have been telling all you nay sayers, Brandon is very highly thought of. Quote
WildCard Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 I have been telling all you nay sayers, Brandon is very highly thought of.Elsewhere or within Buffalo? Quote
That Aud Smell Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 I have been telling all you nay sayers, Brandon is very highly thought of. Russ has never, ever had to say that he'd eat a turd burger of his own creation. Quote
tom webster Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 Elsewhere or within Buffalo? Nationally. I have been told that at least three NFL teams approached TP after sale was complete to see if Brandon was available and that the NFL was also interested if he didn't remain with team. Quote
nobody Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 I have been telling all you nay sayers, Brandon is very highly thought of. In terms of marketing/business side - he has done a great job. That is what he will be doing. He isn't involved with the on field product. Quote
nucci Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 Elsewhere or within Buffalo? Both. Highly respected in NFL by owners after he took over for Ralph Quote

I have been told that at least three NFL teams approached TP after sale was complete to see if Brandon was available and that the NFL was also interested if he didn't remain with team. I wish I could find the post I read to this effect -- it was from a TO writer who put it on his (personal?) blog. For those who don't want to tip their hat to the man, I'd be curious to know why. He seems to be quite capable at what he does. In terms of marketing/business side - he has done a great job. That is what he will be doing. He isn't involved with the on field product. Agreed. Quote
LastPommerFan Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 If there was any doubt, this should firmly place 100% of hockey control in the hands of GMTM. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 If there was any doubt, this should firmly place 100% of hockey control in the hands of GMTM. Battista! I feel sorta badly for Black. This clears a path for Jack Eichel to start not just at, but also under, center this fall. Quote
darksabre Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 I like this move. If only as vindication for my hatred of the turdburger. Quote
nfreeman Posted July 27, 2015 Report Posted July 27, 2015 I have been telling all you nay sayers, Brandon is very highly thought of. You have been indeed and it appears TP is one of those who thinks highly of him. I do not. I wish I could find the post I read to this effect -- it was from a TO writer who put it on his (personal?) blog. For those who don't want to tip their hat to the man, I'd be curious to know why. He seems to be quite capable at what he does. Agreed. Because he was a big part of the organization, and eventually ran it, during a terrible and lengthy period in Bills' history during which they made one awful decision after another -- and during which, I do not believe, that his responsibilities/influence were limited to marketing. Terrible decisions on his watch, off the top of my head: Toronto series Gregg Williams Mike Mularkey Dick Jauron (including his contract extension) Chan Gailey Buddy Nix Mike Williams Aaron Maybin Derrick Dockery Robert Royal Jason Peters EJ Manuel Trade for Watkins Failure to bring in a decent QB I say again: yuck.
