Hoss Posted December 23, 2015 Author Report Posted December 23, 2015 Another year, maybe two for both Baptiste and Bailey, no? How long away is Fasching? Same track? Probably similar. I still believe he'll play his first NHL games either at the end of this year or at some point next year, but it will also depend on what moves the team makes/if they're confident in Bailey or Baptiste playing earlier. I would think Bailey and Baptiste get a taste of the NHL by the end of next season but are mostly set in Rochester until 2017 at the earliest.
Robviously Posted January 3, 2016 Report Posted January 3, 2016 At the halfway point of this season, our 2015 draft class is looking pretty good: Jack Eichel -- he's OK. Brendan Guhle -- might have started on the Sabres this year if not for is injury (which hopefully has no long-term effects). He's having a great season for Prince Albert thus far. Will Borgen -- having a great season for St. Cloud and currently on USA's WJC roster. Devante Stephens -- +12 so far this year after he was +17 last year. Giorgio Estephan -- 48 pts in 39 games, +12, in the WHL. Diamond in the rough? If the Sabres found two other good NHL players *after* they drafted Jack Eichel last year, that'd be pretty awesome. I'm especially interested in Guhle, Borgen, and Stephens since the Sabres' pipeline on defense isn't what it was. I'm looking forward to the Amerks adding Anthony Florentino and Brycen Martin next year to see what we have there too.
Hoss Posted January 3, 2016 Author Report Posted January 3, 2016 Not actually a Sabres prospect, but Drake Caggiula spent dev camp with the Sabres... University of North Dakota Police post this on their Twitter: https://twitter.com/UNDPoliceDept/status/683471879684804608/video/1 UND PoliceVerified account@UNDPoliceDept We are opening an investigation on @drakecaggiula because he just stole the #1 spot on @SportsCenter with this goal!

Derrico Posted January 4, 2016 Report Posted January 4, 2016 Probably similar. I would think Bailey and Baptiste get a taste of the NHL by the end of next season but are mostly set in Rochester until 2017 at the earliest. My thoughts as well. I think Fasching is maybe a year ahead of Bailey/Baptiste. I won't be shocked at all if we see him in the Blue and Gold for a couple of games in March/April.
Thorner Posted January 5, 2016 Report Posted January 5, 2016 Nice write up on the progress of our prospects on the Sabres official site from Kris Baker: http://sabres.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=795863&navid=DL|BUF|home Giorgio Estephan, (as well as having a sweet name) is having a pretty sweet season right now. 9th in WHL scoring. Not bad for a 6th round pick. Good eye, Tim.

Robviously Posted January 5, 2016 Report Posted January 5, 2016 You may call it a sweet name, but the dude is destined to be called Gloria his whole life. I call that a curse. Yeah, but think of how much fun RJ can have with his goal calls.

Drunkard Posted January 5, 2016 Report Posted January 5, 2016 Does anyone under 35 get that reference?I got it but I'm 34. You may need to change your cutoff to 30 or something.

"cue up the Miami sound machine because estephan scores another" "The rhythm is gonna get ya _______ (insert goalie name) "The conga line starts right behind Estephan" OK I'll stop

Not bad for a 6th round pick. Good eye, Tim. I found a cool article about our 2015 draft that includes some quotes about how/why we selected the guys we did. The bit about Estephan is interesting: Royce: “He’s a guy our Western League scout knows very well. He had a broken ankle or foot early in the year, didn’t train in the summer. The knock against him is he has to work on his skating but he knows how to score goals, competes hard. Kevin Prendergast knew him. He was very passionate about it.” I always wonder about how it works later in the draft when you have guys that only 1-2 scouts know really well. Lots more interesting stuff here: http://www.buffalohockeybeat.com/sabres-feel-they-have-steal-in-prospect-devante-stephens/

I am liking our 2015 draft a lot thus far, and not just because of Eichel.

I would like people to note the timeline on most of these guys 4-6 years. Just keep that in mind.
French Collection Posted January 9, 2016 Report Posted January 9, 2016 Hudson Fasching scores 2 for U. of Minnesota today. I think he turns pro at season's end. GMTM will want to show that D-Lo was not the centrepiece of that trade.

Norcal Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 Did anyone see the tweet from Kris Baker with updated stats from the prospects today? It wouldn't load for me so if someone could post it here I'd appreciate it. Thanks
Hoss Posted January 10, 2016 Author Report Posted January 10, 2016 http://www.sabresprospects.com/2008/01/sabres-prospects-statistics.html?m=1 Link doesn't work on mobile for me (cuts off chart). Add two goals to Fasching on that.

French Collection Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 Statistically, Baptiste is playing better than Bailey. First dibs on a call up for a RW?
inkman Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 Lemieux's ~1.5 ppg would lead that list easily. Yes as he's like 30 years old Statistically, Baptiste is playing better than Bailey. First dibs on a call up for a RW? I don't know if Carrier or Rodrigues are RW but I think both are out playing the Bs.
