Eleven Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 He does hold leverage here, if the Sabres play hard ball he can elect to go back to school and become a free agent next year. I would rather burn a year of his ELC and see what he can do with Jack. I don't think that's the way it works. I think the time to sign a draftee who is in college begins when the player leaves college.
Brawndo Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 This is what I could find, so if I am reading this right he would become a FA on August 15, 2017 if he chooses to go back to school next fall. In this case, the NHL club will retain the rights of the player for exclusive negotiation through August 15 following the graduation of his college class provided he remains a college student through at least the start of his senior season. If the player drafted under these circumstances leaves school prior to his senior season, his drafting Club shall retain exclusive rights for the negotiation of his services until the fourth June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft. Either way, a player drafted under this scenario can't become a free agent until the summer following their senior season.
Norcal Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 Sabres hold his rights. Silly question but if he leaves school, can he play in the khl or Europe while he waits out the time and sign with another team when the deal expires?
tom webster Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 (edited) He's going to sign with the Sabres You should just copy and paste this every year this conversation comes up. It's been a long time since that fax machine malfunction Edited March 20, 2016 by tom webster

dudacek Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 They want him. He wants them. He will be signed in the very near future.
beerme1 Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 They want him. He wants them. He will be signed in the very near future. Tonight, tonight. Toniggght
TrueBlueGED Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 Get him signed and get him in the lineup. I really want to see his game and try to get a handle on how NHL ready he is. It might be asking a lot for him to be Jack's running mate next year...but damn does he have the perfect skill set to play next to him.
Norcal Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 He's going to sign with the SabresI think so too. Just an honest question about the process. They want him. He wants them. He will be signed in the very near future. Make it so ASAP
Brawndo Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 The article is 5 years old, but we are getting a special one http://espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?id=6145415&columnist=burnside_scott
thewookie1 Posted March 20, 2016 Report Posted March 20, 2016 I think Fasching is on the Sabres starting lineup at latest by Saturday. I'd put him with O'Reilly and move Kane back to the Eichel line while Girgs and Fasching play with ROR. I'd try Fasching with R & E near the end like the final couple games.
TrueBlueGED Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Regarding Justin Bailey, this is pretty exciting: Kris Baker @SabresProspects 8h8 hours ago Justin Bailey has his 16th. Goals in three straight, points in 15 of his last 18 games. 11-13-24 in that span. #development

TrueBlueGED Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Not sure why we wouldn't recall him when the Amerks are eliminated I assume we would. He was fun to watch and I'd like to see more of him and Jack.

That Aud Smell Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Looking for some Fasching news today. BTW, Vogl's piece in the online paper does a good job of explaining why burning a year of his entry level deal is arguably not a great concern.
Brawndo Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Do we have anyone embedded at the airport for Fasching Watch or is that just a TBD Thing?
Claude_Verret Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Sign the kid today for some baby eating tomorrow.
bob_sauve28 Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 Do we have anyone embedded at the airport for Fasching Watch or is that just a TBD Thing? I think it's pathetic we don't have a person covering the air port.
Mustache of God Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 I think it's pathetic we don't have a person covering the air port. I loiter around the bus depot a lot...keeping an eye out for Sabres related things, and stuff.

Brawndo Posted March 21, 2016 Report Posted March 21, 2016 BOOM Sources tell @ChrisLongKSTP & I Hudson Fasching set to to sign w/ Buff., barring a breakdown in contract talks. Graduates in May. #gophers

Graduates in May. #gophers NICE. as for graduating in May -- those pesky classes should not prevent him from playing a few games over the next few weeks. (Just read a Tweet indicating that he already has the credits he needs to graduate.)
