It seems an even more interesting way of rebuilding for the Islanders, who DON'T NEED TO REBUILD.

Think its more of a capdump for them and making room for younger guys.

I've gotta think that Toronto doesn't give out 13.

Ahh crap, it was Sundin, wasn't it?  Anyway, that was one of the funnier stories I saw come out of NJ this year, that Lou wouldn't let anyone wear #13.

Toronto is a ###### show.

I cannot wait to see the Sabres shred them.  God that will be glorious!  I can send my cousin and his family the much needed laughs and chuckles seeing them fall to the bottom where they belong.

Sh*t show? Or are they simply tanking?

Tanking is a much more dubious proposition in light of the new draft rules.  I think rebuilding, which I always thought is the proper term for total organizational transformation, is what they are doing.  Clear your cap through short contracts with serviceable AHL players, give young guys a chance to show what they have, deal any assets that can be leveraged for potentially better future assets and instill a different way of going about your business are all legitimate goals in the short term.  If they improve their chances a top pick so be it but as we have seen the lottery balls can be finicky. In either event, they will be less talented in the short term, but the sideshow should be hilarious.  As a side note, the Cubs made a conscious decision to build their farm and not try and buy a title, and looks like the early returns are quite positive.

Habs named Pacioretty as their captain.  I really think Subban would have been the natural choice there.

I disagree.  Subban is the flash.  Pacioretty is super solid and an elder statesman on that roster.  Would've been my pick, too.

The perfect scenario?  The Sabres thump Toronto during the season. The Sabres just miss the playoffs and win a lottery spot while Toronto drops to picking 4th or lower.

Perhaps Subban at some point but I'm not sure he's controlling his temper enough yet.

And that will be all for Mr. Ho-Sang.

Oilers lock up Klefbom. Looks like it's around $4 million per year cap hit for 7 years. http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/25308611/report-oscar-klefbom-agrees-to-7-year-deal-with-oilers-after-just-77-games

Could we do something like this with Risto, please?

This is exactly what I want us to do with Risto after this year.

Another tough guy dies too young.  Todd Ewen dead at 49.

Cheez, that one hits home.  We're within months of each other in age, maybe weeks.

He and Ray had lots of battles when Ewen played for the Canadiens.

I was watching a LOT of hockey those years, too.  Huh.

image.JPGI think it is nice that the Islanders are going with the 3rd Jersey designed by a talented 6th grader, or a couple a drunks saying, I think that works.

Decent practice sweater I suppose.

I think they are a better 3rd jersey look than the turd burgers.  Simple, clean.  If I were an Islanders fan I'd be tempted to buy one.
