Interesting.  Hardly a "jog", though, I'd say.  Equivalent to a 5:20 mile pace.

As a marathon runner, I run 400m repeats in the 72- to 76-second range, which would equate to barely-ish making the 60-second cutoff at the 300m mark.  How much do pro hockey players actually do mid- to long-distance running as conditioning for hockey?

Worth looking at. I don't think it is a very hard for most athletes who are in conditioned to run it 3 times given 3 minutes to rest. Just my opinion.

The NHL might feature a Ryder Cup Style Tourament to be played overseas in 2018, possibly during the Olympics. The best North America Players would face off against the best European Players.

The Boston Bruins and how last year they were a team divided.

http://www.csnne.com/boston-bruins/boston-bruins-aim-in-new-season-reunite-a-divided-team

"Multiple sources indicated to CSNNE.com there was a divide between groups of younger and older players in the Bruins dressing room last season. The younger guys felt excluded from a group of established, influential veterans who were, in some cases, focused more on their own individual situations than the team's. And some older vets felt they weren’t getting enough from the young players who needed to step up to replace those who had left."

Good.  May it continue for a thousand years.

Paid time off. Meaning he wasn't with the team because he wasn't signed yet, but now that he is he will be paid as he would have been had he participated in those team activities.

I would've had your back and ran with this one but you've already been sold out.

That's the stupidest thing I ever read. It's Power Take-Off, used on a tractor to power external machinery using the tractor's motor.

Andrej Meszaros PTO with the Avs (Pro Tryout)

Alexei Yashin PTO with the Isles (Paid Time Off)

John Deere PTO with Saskatoon Quakers (Power Take Off)

Wait, does that mean Ville Leino is also on a PTO?

We'll see how that plays out for the Sabres, but my sense is that the vets that have been brought in did so with eyes wide open- the Sabres were in a rebuild and there's going to be a lot of things changing.  I don't think any vet takes their position on the team for granted, even Gionta, Ennis, etc.  If Nolan instilled anything, it was the idea that they all need to work hard.  Now when they have a system in place and their prospects assume their roles in it, they will see their hard work pay off, I hope.

There is a chance that some of the newly acquired veterans will be a distraction (particularly ROR if his court case drags on, and Kane if any of the locker room poison from WPG follows him to Buffalo), but my sense is that they know their roles here and GMTM/Bylsma are well aware of these potential issues and be be right on top of it if any bad chemistry arises.

There's some talk of an offer sheet for Jonathan Huberdeau. The Panthers apparently have informed him that their recent two-year deal if their final and best offer. He's mulling it over and other teams have considered it.

Brock Nelson and the Isles haven't agreed to a deal and the Isles owner has informed the team that if a player isn't signed by the time camp starts Thursday they are ineligible to play this season.

I like Huberdeau.

As to the Nelson thing... the f#@k?

Should... should we throw an offer sheet at Huberdeau? $3.6M-$5.4M/year would cost us a first and third.  We have $10M in cap space.  His player fancy stats are legit; he was the 3rd overall in 2011.  Perfect age for our group.

He's their top LW, which makes a division opponent weaker AND stacks our left side (Kane, Moulson), almost forming three scoring lines (with O'Reilly, Eichel, Samson, Girgensons, Ennis, etc, excluding that pesky RW depth).

I'd be ok w/ it.

RW is still weak, but between Ennis, Gionta, McGinn, & either Zemgus or Sam, it should be good enough until a trade could be made or at least 1 of Fasching, Bailey, or Baptiste grow into the role.
