thewookie1 Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 It is well documented that his time in Russia, especially losing friends in that plane crash changed him. It's still remarkable that he has been able to sustain his physical abilities at such an age. A player also had a heart attack and soon after died. At the time he was sitting next to the guy on the bench in the KHL.
qwksndmonster Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Yes it is. Nothing wrong with that. I keep a bottle here myself. Lots of Catholics do. It's vodka, Mr. Lahey!
Rasmus_ Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 You mellow as you get older. He was definitely a primadonna n his days in Pittsburgh and mainly in Washington. However, he's approachable and respectful of his place in the game. He's always been an amazing talent to watch.
Huckleberry Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Leafs got some trades done it seems. Shawn Matthias to the avalanche for a 4th round pick and Colin smith (AHL guy I guess). Roman polak + centre nick spaling for Raffi torres and 2nd round picks in 2017 and 2018.
Drunkard Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Is that a bottle of holy water back there? How else is he supposed to stave off the vampires? It's either that or sharpening all his sticks to a point.
Hoss Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Ilya Kovalchuk has been dismissed from his KHL team.
inkman Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Ilya Kovalchuk has been dismissed from his KHL team. They didn't have room for a 50 goal scorer
SwampD Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 They didn't have room for a 50 goal scorer I love the classics.
Stoner Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Yes it is. Nothing wrong with that. I keep a bottle here myself. Lots of Catholics do. I didn't mean to suggest there's anything wrong with it. The snark involved the idea of a Sabres fan being splashed with his holy water.
Eleven Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 This is an absolutely terrific breakdown of the PK Subban / Grigorenko play from last week, together with Therrien's actions, and a little bit about the state of the Habs as a whole. It's a little long (7 min) but it's worthwhile: https://www.nhl.com/video/nhl-tonight-pk-subban-benching/t-277350912/c-41541703
Hoss Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 (edited) The announcement from the team on Kovalchuk said that he had been dismissed from the team, but apparently it appears to only be a one-game benching (for now): Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC My understanding of the Kovalchuk situation is it is a one-game benching (for now) by coach Sergei Zubov. Edited February 22, 2016 by Hoss
Stoner Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Wow. Zubov bringing down the hammer. Think he'll have Kovi in stripes? DAD JOKE!
Cereal Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Zubov! Quick story time. I was in Salt Lake City for work a couple years ago, and I was speaking with a Russian fella there who was in college in Utah during the 2002 Olympics. Because he spoke the language, he was hired by the Russian hockey team to help them find their way around the city. Most notably, he had to drive Zubov to Nevada so he could gamble. Zubov apparently promptly blew $15,000, and then argued with his wife the entire drive back to SLC. It sounded real awkward.
WildCard Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Sorry if someone already posted this, but the Isles are looking for ways to break the 25 year lease they signed with the Barclay's Center back in 2012 http://thehockeywriters.com/islanders-out-barclays-center-lease/

That Aud Smell Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 I did see that. For Christ's sake, move that team back to Nassau County.

darksabre Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 WHO THE BRINGS A BABY TO A HOCKEY GAME?
tom webster Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 WHO THE ###### BRINGS A BABY TO A HOCKEY GAME? It was an open practice
darksabre Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 It was an open practice Doesn't matter. Who the heck takes their baby anywhere near that?
WildCard Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 WHO THE ###### BRINGS A BABY TO A HOCKEY GAME?Probably the same moron who brought her kid to the Jays playoff game where she sat right behind the plate. Spoiler alert, kid got drilled with a half-full beer can from the upper deck
tom webster Posted February 23, 2016 Report Posted February 23, 2016 Doesn't matter. Who the heck takes their baby anywhere near that? Traditionally people that can't afford to go to games go to practices and other informal things like that and its not unusual to see young parents at those kind of things with their babies. The article doesn't address whether she knew picks were going to be thrown into the stands or was not paying attention.

But there are a lot of places I'm not going to take a baby, and a hockey rink is one of them.
