JJFIVEOH Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 I was looking for fancy crystal candy dishes full of spiced hard candies. Like this? I'm glad you reminded me, I've looked all over for the last month for the same thing and finally gave up. I intended to look on the interwebs for it and forgot until you brought it up. http://www.oldtimecandy.com/old-fashioned-christmas-mix-2lb?gdftrk=gdfV22518_a_7c838_a_7c5068_a_7c39325&gclid=CMyM2LuJ4skCFYMDaQodC4IP-g

I've found the spiced ribbon candy at Wegmans. I keep it handy during the holidays as a nod to Granny. I think this year I'll get some of these too. Now I need to find a fancy crystal candy dish.

There were two kinds: Hard candy, kind of like Smarties but white and not as good, and bubble gun cigarettes. Those were cooler because they were wrapped in paper just like real cigarettes and you could "puff" through it and the power that kept the gum from sticking to the paper would come out like smoke. I also remember this ad very vividly (I was 4 when it came out). That and other adds of the day that backed up The Surgeon General's Warning convinced me to not even start. I was indoctrinated by the anti-smoking propaganda. Edited December 17, 2015 by The Big Johnson

darksabre Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 When I was a kid my favorite was packin a lipper of jerky chew...
Hoss Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 When I was a kid I knew like 6 families who ate and dressed like but had parents who smoked like a chimney. Cigarettes should be illegal. em.
qwksndmonster Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Ryan O'Reilly is tied at 19-25th in the league in scoring with 28 points. Here are the guys he's tied with: Evgeny Kuznetzov Mark Stone Claude Giroux Joe Pavelski Matt Duchene Nathan MacKinnon

Trying to figure out what "ate and dressed like ######" has to do with "smoked like a chimney".... especially as a counterpoint (use of the word but to link them).

I'm assuming money spent on cigarettes, instead of spending it on better food and clothing. Damn stupid shame adults make damn stupid choices. But hey, it's your lungs and cash. Doohicksie Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Yeah... I just think and would have worked better than but to link the two ideas. #pedantic #grammargoon #ineedtogetalife

Weave Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 wut. That was my exact thought when I read this: Yeah... I just think and would have worked better than but to link the two ideas.
JJFIVEOH Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Holy cow, they have candy cigarettes and cigars, I thought those disappeared. http://www.oldtimecandy.com/candy-by-type/candy-cigars-cigarettes Man it took me a half hour to browse through everything they have. So many things there I haven't seen in years. Memories............ I ended up getting this. http://www.swisscolony.com/candy-chocolates/all-candy-chocolates/traditional-candy.pro?fpi=2184&catCd=AW&prefixCode=AW
Doohicksie Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 They thought he would Spark the Leafs, but maybe he's just a flash in the pan. (Maple Leafs' goalie Sparks leaves with injury)
biodork Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 Wow, Max Domi just flattened the CBJ's goalie (accidentally) going in on a breakaway. Guy cracked his head on the ice and staying in the game. Sheesh.
Doohicksie Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 That's a great game, eh? Max Domi is gonna be a star in this League. Meh.... empty netter for Columbus to go up 7-5. I was looking forward to a big finish by the Yotes.
biodork Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 That's a great game, eh? Max Domi is gonna be a star in this League. He really is. Classy move on his part to check on the goalie after the hit and retrieve his helmet for him. Just tuned in at the end, but cripes, 7-5? More like a baseball score. Here's the collision:
Doohicksie Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 There are so many great young players in the league right now- Domi, Larkin, the Sabres kids. I think this rookie class will be comparable in impact to the QB class of 1983 was in the NFL (Elway, Kelly, Marino) in terms of changing the fortune of teams.
JJFIVEOH Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 Can't blame the guy for not wanting to come out even if he was hurt. Lindback got yanked, this might have been his chance to take over the #1 for the time being.

JJFIVEOH Posted December 18, 2015 Report Posted December 18, 2015 No, this was the Columbus goalie, not Arizona's. Wow, total brain fart. I saw the box score earlier and saw Lindback was yanked............ didn't think twice. Probably should have watched the video first. Perhaps I should have had some of those beers.
