  1. 1. What do you think should be done with Cody Hodgson?

    • Buy him out now and cut our losses
    • Trade him for another team’s bad contract
    • Play him in the top six to pad his value, then trade him the first chance you get
    • Wipe the slate clean and see what he does under Bylsma

I agree.

Me too. Unless by some miracle he's had some transformation already in the off season and can show it. At his best he doesn't seem anything of what GMTM is building. I'm crossing fingers he is moved.

Right on -- he doesn't play a GMTM kind of game and he was terrible during GMTM's first full year of running the team.  And I also think there's something to be said -- both in my opinion and I think in GMTM's -- for accountability and out-with-the-old-and-in-with-the-new.

All that and a bad contract. Definitely moved or bought out. No question in my mind. Heard something interesting on the radio this morning for a team like the hawks. They bring him in and cut him and create salary cap. Hello Seabrook?

They would have to buy him out, not cut correct?

Correct. That was what I meant buy out.

So if we are buying him out, he has to be waived by noon today right?

Getting real close here.

He's not being bought out IMO. He's going to be the comeback player of the year.

(boy this bandwagon is getting awfully lonely )

I think I saw there was a way to do it tomorrow, but I can't find the link right now.

My understanding was he had to be bought out by noon tomorrow, but he had to be on waivers for 24 hours before then.

Guess we will find out soon enough.

He could definitely rebound on a line with Kane and RoR.

I just don't see who he bumps.

Gionta to the 4th line. Captain shmaptain, if we keep Hodgson it's for the express purpose of giving him offensive opportunities to rehabilitate his trade value.

Bumping Gionta to the fourth for Hodgson sounds like a good way to ###### up the room.

It's done:

Richards (LA), Parenteau (MTL), Fistric (ANA) all clear unconditional waivers. Cody Hodgson (BUF) and Viktor Stalberg (NSH) on unconditional

Maybe. What if Gionta really looks old in camp and Hodgson legit looks good?

I just can't imagine Hodgson is retained only to be clamped to the 4th line. Murray said the other day there's a plan; keeping him and hoping he randomly does well isn't a plan. He'd moving, somebldy else is moving, or the weakest non-Hodgson winger (Gionta IMO) slides down the roster.

And I literally just got the WGR text while typing this. Nevermind

Darn it. TM just threw away another overvalued asset. TM could have converted him, Lemieux, and Compher into Phil Kessel, but noooooooo, TM gives away too much in every deal. Even those like this that are just with the league itself.

When it comes time to replacd Kane 5-7 years from now, there will not be 1 single tradeable asset left on this team.

/sarcasm

Did we hit all the major points, or were a few missed. ;)

If this team wants to go to the promised land, it won't be with half-effort guys like Hodgson in the lineup.  Murray clearly favors "effort guys" over talented slackers.

Good riddance, CoHo.

For my own personal knowledge.. not to get blasted.

Could the Sabres waive buy him out and then re-sign him to a lower value contract?  I am not advocating for this.. just curious.
