deluca67 Posted June 26, 2015 Report Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) There is not a flying chance in hell that the Edmonton Oilers trade away Connor McDavid. God himself could ask for that pick and be turned down. Robviously will be happy about Buffalo sports before Edmonton trades the #1 pick. Who is the GM in Edmonton? Before this morning I would have said no way are the Sabres giving away the #21 pick for an average backup goalie and $3 mil of dead cap space. So anything is possible. Randall Flagg Posted June 26, 2015 Report Posted June 26, 2015 Get ready to be unhappy -- it's going to cost more than that. I'll bet you a zillion dollars that if God asked for that pick, the Oilers would agree. A zillion, holy moly. I want ROR and I think we get him and I think there will be a window of time for 2 hours after the trade, just like after the Kane and Lehner trades, where my day is ruined, but then I'll get over it. What do you think about trading away that #1 overall to me and my minions." Quote

You bring in the former Bruins GM to make your team like the Boston Bruins. Lucic is Mr. Bruin plus 3 first round picks. is it likely? No. Impossible? No as well. Quote

No. Impossible? No as well. He was Mr. Bruin. He was a giant turd last year, and is on a 3 year downward slope in quality of play. It's more likely we're actually in the matrix than that trade gets done. Quote

qwksndmonster Posted June 26, 2015 Report Posted June 26, 2015 The rumor that the Bruins are looking to take a run at #3, makes me thing they are trying to get #1 from the Oilers so they can pick Jack Eichel. #3, #14, #1 in 2016 and Lucic for the #1 overall pick? This is almost, almost, funnier than Rob's breakdown over giving up the 21st pick. Quote

Samson's Flow Posted June 26, 2015 Report Posted June 26, 2015 So you believe the 1st overall pick in this draft can be traded? Didn't we argue about this for months during this last tank season? It isn't happening folks. Nobody trades the 'next great one' without getting a package that no GM will be willing to offer. A Lindros type package isn't feasable anymore in today's NHL cap world. @mirtle: Sounds like Dougie Hamilton talk heating up. Boston very busy. What's so hard to believe about it? They may have just decided making the moves necessary to pay him, and actually paying him, is not what they want to do. Quote
deluca67 Posted June 26, 2015 Report Posted June 26, 2015 So you believe the 1st overall pick in this draft can be traded? If Chiarelli isn't seriously listening to offers then he isn't doing his job. I'm not saying it's likely, it's just not impossible. Quote

What they need are players to round out that talent to take the Oilers to that next level. If I'm the Oilers GM I'm making that deal and flipping the #14 pick in a deal for O'Reilly. Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 2m2 minutes ago CGY has fully entered the race to acquire Dougie Hamilton from BOS and may be a top contender to get him. #TSN Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC 38s39 seconds ago Hearing trade call between Boston and Calgary. TrueBlueGED Posted June 26, 2015 Report Posted June 26, 2015 He's 22 and seemingly on a fast track to a Norris Trophy. The second half of that is very debatable, but it doesn't change my point: they could certainly decide that a cap purge plus long term deal is not in the franchise's best interest if the alternative is a similar piece (Hanifin) on a cost-controlled contract. I would disagree with that assessment, but it's not hard to get to that conclusion. Quote
