inkman Posted February 5, 2017 Report Posted February 5, 2017 I'd do that in a heartbeat... just to hear RJ do the M-m-m-m-m-att Duchene! And he's a stud, and close with O'Reilly. Nylander and next years 1st are unknowns. Reinhart will never be on Duchene's level. Isn't he almost on his level now? Quote

It's his second year, he's probably just in his own head. Get him out of there and with another young guy he can thrive with, a heavy hitter full of confidence in Risto, and he'll thrive. Ghost or die for me And hard pass on that Duchene trade. He's 27, turning 28, and our guys are young and ready to hit their prime. Nylander is going to be a 40g scorer when in 3 years. Helps that Byslma won't be here by then too Quote

If Ghost is available and they're not asking the world for a 2nd year defenseman, I'd go for it too. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted February 5, 2017 Report Posted February 5, 2017 Last year may well have been the high water mark for Ghost, but I also have a hard time believing he's a total washout after how well he played. And he brings a skill set we could really use. Definitely worth a look. Quote

WildCard Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 'We could be buyers and get a young player that makes sense moving forward, though that would be tough' GMTM, paraphrased 'I will not be looking to trade Guhle for a top 9 forward by any means' 'A lot of teams scouting our team' Quote

And he brings a skill set we could really use. Definitely worth a look. Ghost could be a higher apex Gragnani (SP!), Myers, or Cory Conacher just as easily as being in a sopohmore slump. These decisions are how good GMs earn their money. Quote

North Buffalo Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 He was a healthy scratch the other nite too Quote
dudacek Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 Can't see the price being high given the recent benches, but if I'm the Flyers I don't want to sell low either. Is there some reason (expansion or other) why they just can't hang on to him? They do have a whack of young D. Quote
Mustache of God Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 Can't see the price being high given the recent benches, but if I'm the Flyers I don't want to sell low either. Is there some reason (expansion or other) why they just can't hang on to him? They do have a whack of young D. Ghost seems to be mired in a textbook sophomore slump and I'm reminded of Tyler Myers. I can't imagine their management will sell low on him now, especially as he won't need to be protected for the expansion draft as he's a 2nd year pro. Quote
WildCard Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 This is Ghosts 3rd straight scratching and 5th this season Get him Murray Quote
WildCard Posted February 6, 2017 Report Posted February 6, 2017 Ghost is on pace for 7-29-36 in his second season. An 11 point falloff, but far from terrible. Combine that with the Flyers being the 25th worst offensive team on 5v5 in the league, and the fact that his advanced stats are actually improved, I find it very hard to not get excited about getting him Quote
Brawndo Posted February 7, 2017 Report Posted February 7, 2017 Tyler Johnson anyone? http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/tb170206.html Quote
WildCard Posted February 7, 2017 Report Posted February 7, 2017 FWIW both Sakic and Yzerman attended the Panthers-Ducks game in person the other night. TB is screwed with the expansion coming up and is looking to shake things up Quote
WildCard Posted February 7, 2017 Report Posted February 7, 2017 Deal 77, 9, 44 and 47Good luck getting anything for 44. Could probably probably get something for Des though Quote
Randall Flagg Posted February 7, 2017 Report Posted February 7, 2017 The guys on The Instigators were going through TSN's latest trade bait list. Craig Reevay was adamant, like, pounding his fist on the table while repeating several times, that Gabriel Landeskog is a bona fide Center, not a winger. Center with a capital C.Has Landeskog played a lick of center at the NHL level? Quote
nucci Posted February 7, 2017 Report Posted February 7, 2017 (edited) The Sabres are going to sell because they can and they should. Murray said it. There are teams that think they have a shot. He knows the Sabres don't have a shot. Limping into a wild card spot and being eliminated in Round 1 doesn't do anything. Gionta will be sought after and comes with no strings. Kulikov is the same. Kane should be highly sought after. Moulson not as much - existing contract and all. So, if he's able to move them for a good D prospect or two or better I think he'd do it. How do you know they would be eliminated? If this team somehow makes the playoffs that means they got really hot and were playing extremely well to get in. Not exactly limping in. You wouldn't be excited by that......or do we never want our teams to make the playoffs? Edited February 7, 2017 by nucci Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted February 7, 2017 Report Posted February 7, 2017 Am I the only one who thinks Matt Duchene is overrated? Maybe if my team desperately needed a center, but overall, not a guy I'd give up the farm for. Quote

You wouldn't be excited by that......or do we never want our teams to make the playoffs? Certainly what you describe is in the realm of possibility. It is however, not very probable. This team has not shown a threat of getting really hot. They have not shown any indication they would do anything other than limp into the playoffs. If they managed to do it while selling off assets that improve the team for next season I am fine with that. Addition by subtraction is possible. It's not a discussion about never making the playoffs... it's a discussion about this year. Quote

They need to get hot. If they do then there is a chance to win in 1st round I know it's not probable Quote
