Taro T Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 That was how I read it as well. I also think it points to him being valued more around the league than by Sabres fans salty over his lack of scoring this season. Personally I'd much prefer not to trade him, but as others have said, can definitely see him being involved in a draft deal. Separately, I just love how Colorado is determined to go out and get a defenseman when they all they have to do is pay Tyson Barrie. Hilarious. Apparently Sakic & Roy were fans of the 2000's version of the Bills. "No ####ing way can we pay (insert name of DB / DT, any one will do really) what he wants & is worth. Let's let him go. Holy ####, we've got a great big hole at (DB/DT); let's grab one in the 1st round. Nope, scrap that, you can NEVER have enough good RB's. Let's grab one of those in the 1st round. ####, now we've got too many RB's. Let's trade the "old" one that was playing well for a 4th; we've gotten a lot of good STers from the 4th round." :p Oh, Mr. Sakic, there's a Mr. Murray on line 1. (Pleeeaaase let the Sabres & Avs continue to be trading partners.) I read that Roy wants tough, stay at home defenders. Zemgus + Gorges + 38? Would he be dumb enough to do that? If he isn't, Sakic MIGHT be. ;) Quote
thewookie1 Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 I read that Roy wants tough, stay at home defenders. Zemgus + Gorges + 38? Would he be dumb enough to do that? With how Sakic and Roy run that team... probably could give them Zemgus, Gorges and #68. But Zemgus  and then we'd have 5 RHDs and 1 LHD Replace Gorges with Franson (it could work since Franson is sort of Roy's type of PP Specialist who is a 3rd pairing guy with a bit of grit.) nfreeman Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 I read that Roy wants tough, stay at home defenders. Zemgus + Gorges + 38? Would he be dumb enough to do that? Not likely. But maybe: Zemgus + Bailey + Gorges + #8 for Barrie + #10? Quote
qwksndmonster Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 Not likely. But maybe: Zemgus + Bailey + Gorges + #8 for Barrie + #10? Bailey plus moving up 2 spots is barely more valuable than a 38. Quote
pi2000 Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 Not likely. But maybe: Zemgus + Bailey + Gorges + #8 for Barrie + #10? do it! Quote
nfreeman Posted June 1, 2016 Report Posted June 1, 2016 Bailey plus moving up 2 spots is barely more valuable than a 38. You're probably right. Roy might be fooled by it though. Quote
thewookie1 Posted June 2, 2016 Report Posted June 2, 2016 Not likely. But maybe: Zemgus + Bailey + Gorges + #8 for Barrie + #10? Too rich in my opinion for another RHD, and Bailey is a local so I'd never trade him barring ridiculous over-payment Girgs, Baptiste, Gorges for Barrie and #130 Then we'd have 3 straight picks in the 5th :) Quote
Eleven Posted June 2, 2016 Report Posted June 2, 2016 Bailey plus moving up 2 spots is barely more valuable than a 38. Agreed. Quote

I cannot believe I am saying this -- kinda hate the guy: Hartnell is listed as trade bait in the tsn article. Having him on a line with Jack and Sam would provide someone who would watch their back and fit in a top 6 role. Edited June 2, 2016 by SabresFanInRochester Quote

Having him on a line with Jack and Sam would provide someone who would watch their back and fit in a top 6 role. 3 x 4.75mil 34yr old winger, I'd give a 3rd for him. Mainly because he's a gritty playoff performer so even at 37/38 yrs old he'd still be useful since he fits in as a 4th liner. But I'd only trade for him if we get a Dman at 8 Quote

RNH, Eberle, Hall, Yak...2 of these players will be moved One of them will not be named Taylor Hall. Quote

pi2000 Posted June 3, 2016 Report Posted June 3, 2016 It does seem like a Zemgus-plus-sweeteners-for-Barrie deal is out there, innit? C'mon Tim, makes this happen! Barrie would instantly transform this team, he's one of the best skaters in the league. Quote

Well, according to Friedman they want a Dman. I know my rep for hating Bogosian may get this dismissed, but does he not check every single box for what a guy like Roy would look for in a defenseman? I bet that's who they'd want from us in a swap. Quote

beerme1 Posted June 3, 2016 Report Posted June 3, 2016 I'm not doing that in a million years I'm with the wookie on this. I don't feel in the position we're in that giving up three roster players for one improves. Nor do I feel giving up on Girgs is the right thing to do. He's still a kid. Same is almost true for Foligno but I do see him being moved and Bogo is not the problem with this team so I wish we would stop treating him as sure thing to be moved. He's arguably our best D and others time it was simply true. Quote

Secondly, I don't think even Bogosian would argue he was the best defenseman at any point beyond a rare game here or there :p Edited June 3, 2016 by TrueBlueGED Quote
