Hall > RNH, but consider their needs I agree that C would be better to trade for than a left winger but Hall is more like Hall>>>>RNH IMO. Unless Montreal is picking in the top 3 then there is a very low probability the winger they draft will come close to Hall potential. Outside of Price and a couple of other guys Montreal is not a very good hockey team. They could use talent everywhere and if you were to move PK, you need a guy coming back with absolute star potential. Quote
LGR4GM Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 In the scenario offered montreal would get Edmontons 1st rounder which will be top 3 Quote
Derrico Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 Ahhhh I see. I don't think that trade works though if the Oil fall to 4th or 5th post lottery. Quote

If they do fall to 4th which is possible, I would still make the trade. Tkachuk would be a good fit for Montreal along with RNH and Nurse. The sum of those parts help Montreal more than PK Subban. The sum of those parts help Montreal more than PK Subban.Edmonton would probably need to sweeten the pot a little bit if they fall to 4th, but that's essentially the crux of it. Trading away PK means you're in full rebuild, might as well bite the bullet and start large. The only thing is, do they trade Price, Pac, and others? I don't think it happens this year, just because Therrien is already coming back. But, if they miss again next year, PK is gone Edited April 21, 2016 by WildCard Quote
LGR4GM Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 toss in Eberle and ask Montreal to give up their 2nd this year Quote
WildCard Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 That might be too much for Edmonton. Maybe Yak and someone else Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 If I'm Montreal, I still insist on Klefbom. RNH, Klefbom, 1st. And I'm still not sure I do it. Quote

If that is a top3 pick, I most assuredly refuse to give up Klefbom. Although I agree if I am Montreal I would ask. Really the trade is RNH, Laine/Pulujarvi, Nurse for PK Subban. That is a hell of a hall but I could understand Montreal wanting a touch more. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 If I was a GM with PK Subban on my team, I'd probably say give me McDavid or shove off. But then I'd realistically take Hall + Klefbom + Nuge/1st in 2016 Quote

I'm not trading possibly the second best defenseman in the league for a 1/2C tweener, an 18 year old winger, and a gigantic question mark of a defense prospect. Nurse was bad this year. Tons of talent, but who knows? Quote
WildCard Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 I wonder if McDavid does have a price Quote
LGR4GM Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 I wonder if McDavid does have a price Would you trade Crosby for Subban? I am honestly asking, just trying to find the price. Quote

TrueBlueGED Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 'Possiby' is very optimistic. PK is top 5, and maybe not even that Keith Doughty Karlsson Josi Pk? I think I could make a case for PK being right next to Doughty. Not as good defensively, but better offensively. In any event, I definitely put him above Josi and Keith. At worst he's #4. Quote
That Aud Smell Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 I'm such a pud. I had to look up who Josi was. (And I found an amusing bit that he and Shea Weber did.) What about the guy with the initials from Arizona? Quote
LGR4GM Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 So in no particular order: Weber, Josi, OEL, Karlsson, Suban, Doughty, Keith... who else is on the list of top defenders? Quote

Are we talking best Dmen today or most valuable Dmen in terms of trades. If it's the later I think Aaron Ekblad has to be in the discussion. Quote

jsb Posted April 21, 2016 Report Posted April 21, 2016 I think a very under rated Dman is Alex Pietrangelo of the Blues. Does everything well and I think he was in the top 5 for Dman scoring. I take him over Karlsson because he plays some D also. Quote
