Brawndo
The most recent exchange was about Brendan Smith a 27yo LHD who the Wings might be looking to move. Would be immediate Top 4 D on the Sabres
Brawndo
More from Sports Net Saturday Headlines Friedman Sides not close between Loui and Bruins, he is expected to be moved. Boedker is a potential replacement for him in Beantown. If E. Staal waves his NTC, expect the Rangers to be strong possibly Cox Yandle will not be moved Stempniak is expected to be on the market as well. TrueBlueGED
Smith has put up really nice numbers, but he's also been gifted really easy minutes--looks like a high end 3rd pair type. As to why Detroit would want to move him, my guess is they think he's going to want to get paid more like a 2nd pair player than 3rd pair when he's a UFA after next year. Put differently, they don't plan on having him beyond next season and figure to maximize the asset by trading him now. I'd assume they want to make a hockey trade with him, not a sell move. Brawndo
Asking price for Brandon Pirri looks like a second round pick or mix of mid-rounders. NYR, EDM in the mix. Likely moved next 24-hours. Per Travis Yost. The Sabres have an abundance of mid rounders. RFA

Hoss
I don't know if I would have any interest in Pirri. It's known that he's 100% offense and abysmal in his own end. This will be the second time a good team decided they couldn't have him in their lineup. Florida is all-out buyers and selling him off. Hm... Difference is you can probably get Pirri for a million per year for two years, while McGinn is going to get $3 million for 3 years. Pirri is a great stopgap because he's completely disposable financially if/when something better comes along. I think Pirri will get slightly more than that but he's a controllable RFA so it'll be more cost-effective than McGinn. McGinn will probably get more than what you mentioned which is a travesty. Brawndo
Per Joe Haggerty Bruins may be looking to upgrade on the fourth line. Wouldn't be stunned if a guy like Jamie McGinn comes into play for them
Rasmus_
Waiting for the other shoe to drop sucks. And I don't want anything short of Forsbacka Karlsson and a third or their 2nd round pick back for McGinn from Boston. Hoss
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie CAR-NYR trade talks for Eric Staal in a nutshell: CAR wants 1st rd pick; NYR adamant about not giving up 1st rd pick. So... Please let this drag into tomorrow.
Hoss
Let's not forget about Nail Yakupov. Oilers were busy yesterday moving out Purcell and Schultz. Seems to be developing interest in Yak. From Dreger Custance says Tampa is active today Edited February 28, 2016 by Hoss
WildCard
I wonder what Yak fetches, as well as what else TB has cooking outside of Drouin
TrueBlueGED
I have lukewarm interest in Yak if the price is cheap (I stress lukewarm and cheap). Basically I'm pretty interested in value and upside for wing additions going into next season, while spending the real money/assets on the blue line. Yakupov fits the bill. Hoss
Dreger: All indications point toward Eric Staal going to the New York Rangers. Approvals required, but seems likely.
Brawndo
Eric Staal is now out of Carolina's lineup, meaning the deal to the Rangers will happen. Per Kevin Allen
Hoss
Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun It was quiet on the Jamie McGinn front Saturday but Sabres getting calls today. Asking price is a 2nd-rd pick

Brawndo
According to an NHL source, Sami Vatanen wants a 6-yr deal worth $6 mill per. Ducks not doing that now and are listening to trade offers. He's a righty :( Edmonton should be all over this

Brawndo
Per Travis Yost Price on Lee Stempniak is a second-round pick. Sense that's negotiable if a team will package mid-rounders as an offset.
