I really don't want him as Head Coach of the Sabres but I'd be all aboard him being an Assistant.

What scares me is his inexperience in head-coaching

Part of my coaching requirements would be the ability to get Zadorov to grow up, and I'm stuck in terms of Richardson since he doesn't have much coaching clout so we'd need to rely on his playing career as reason for Nikita to respect him.

Librarian scale.  That's some deep dark mind space that I don't want to enter.  Librarians. Are. Terrifying.

I don't think it would get them both fired.  I could see Tim convincing Pegula like this:

Luker is great with young players and has a lot of promise as an NHL head coach.  Worst case Ontario?  We jettison him in two years when our young talent is just getting scary good.  Then we break the bank on a big name if necessary.

Being barefoot might've been some sort of tribute.

He did play for Roger Neilson and perhaps it's a tribute to Roger with the tie thing. If you make me wear a tie I will wear the most hideous tie I can find lol

Roger was  a good dude.

Qwk....this is probably a good time for a horse racing comparison.

If you have 30 horses....and you have a main trainer who gets 15-20 of them, then maybe you throw Luke a horse or 3 if you really like the guy.

They just tried to give Babcock $50 million. You can't go to Richardson.....it's going to get them both fired in 2 years.

If Bylsma was a 10 on your Librarian scale.....this guy has to be a 40......

What the bobcockolypse is the librarian scale?

Librarians are actually really friendly people. Especially Academic Librarians.  Aren't you in college qwk?

Luke would be my choice now that Babcock is out. He has plenty of experience with the young players and I'm not keen on some of the other names I've been hearing. No Bylsma (I think he was way overrated- that Cup team he had in Pitt was a Michel Therrien team that Bylsma inherited in short order, and it was his only Cup with the NHL's best player & Malkin) No Carlyle, no Terry Murray (that one actually scared me) Blashill will end up the Wings new coach so he's out (otherwise I'd really like him) Guy Boucher perhaps. Not sure he is on the Sabres list after Boucher's extensive Toronto interviews.Might as well go with a youthful coach with the experience of coaching youth. Most important decision Murray's going to make. Enough of brutal hockey in Western New York.

My mother is a librarian. Jerk.

Why? I know this is the mindset of many, but I don't see why there's suddenly a stigma around guys who haven't had a head job in the league before.

My issue with Richardson isn't the lack of NHL experience, it's the thin AHL experience and general lack of success. I'm not against taking a risk on a new guy, I just think this hire is too important to take that lage of a risk on somebody with Richardson's record. It doesn't have to be in the NHL, but I want somebody with more meat on the bones.

Yes, young players have developed under him...but are we hiring a developmental coach or an NHL head coach?

I don't think you've ever come into contact with a librarian.  In fact I know you haven't because you're still alive enough to type that post.

Ok.  Not all librarians are terrifying.  Your mom is terrifyingly hot.

Pretty good dickpicks.  Artfully done.

I thought the shadow mixed with the sepia toned filter really added to the overall presentation.

My issue with Luke Richardson would be it is a big risk for a very unproven commodity.  I am not opposed to the idea but if Murray hires him and Luke sucks that is all on Timmy.

I'm thinking of adding an F..... X. Benefdict.

It's feels kinda trendy.

Agreed this would be TM's Rubicon moment.  I have to believe somewhere during the interview process, TM laid out his vision of what it would take to win consistently in the NHL at the highest level.  I did not get the impression that the lengthy interview process that included some other better known quantities was designed to find a specialist, i.e. a good teardown person, a good drafter, a trade specialist etc.  Rather, I believe that TM sold himself as the guy with the plan and the ability to execute all phases from identifying, obtaining and developing talent to managing the financial structure of the on ice talent including hiring administrative staff like coaches and scouts.  If TM thinks this is the guy to execute the plan laid out, the one TP bought into, then I support the decision.  If it is Bylsma or Deboer, I trust that too.

I think that SSers are getting swept up in the euphoria of the war being over, and not realizing the Marshall Plan is just getting under way.

Inexperience would worry me if there were better experienced candidates. Bylsma and Boucher are meh to me. Wouldn't hate or love them.

Richardson is my guy right now until we start to hear more names. Groulx in Quebec? Arniel in NY (please don't bring that system)? Kitchen in Chicago? We haven't heard much.

Bylsma said "Let's grind those female dogs down." to his team.  I commented in the Bylsma thread that it sounded like he was a hushed librarian trying not to disturb readers.

Richardson is twice the librarian that Bylsma is.  Scary guy.

I definitely think that there is a well thought out master plan in place. And the Sabres will follow that.

As a matter of fact, IMO, the Babcock pursuit was more about his availability and identifying an elite upgrade available than following their plan. Now that he's in Toronto, I think they go back to the original plan.

Your jerk librarian wife is also a dude?

Hahhahaha, no you're the jerk.  Librarians are mysterious though.
