MBHockey13 Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 I totally think the Sabres and Babcock had a contract last night and he just said he needed to sleep on it and talk it over with his family and it was just between signing the contract or staying in Detroit. Then the Leafs called Babcock and Babcock basically broke his word and the Sabres were like F you. If that was the case then I DEFINITELY don't want him. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 We won't hear, not with any authority. Another one we'll be arguing about for years, each with our own perceived facts. At least you're admitting from the start they're just perceived facts ;) Quote
That Aud Smell Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 Welp. At least Harrington will get his presser now. Right? Or nah? Quote
matter2003 Posted May 20, 2015 Author Report Posted May 20, 2015 Oh no: LeBrun saying babcock to Toronto. They have a few nice pieces, but they are severly hamstrung by bad contracts and have nowhere near the depth of young talent we do. They are not contending for a Stanley Cup anytime soon even with Babcock, IMHO Quote
nfreeman Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 I assumed that was to talk extension. Maybe it was "thanks for your service?" Nah. This has to be about money, and control. I think it was about Toronto vs Buffalo -- both in terms of big-city glamor and in terms of playing on the biggest NHL stage. Quote
SabresFanInRochester Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 I certainly hope not. I'm with you on that. I don't want Ball-smack. I don't view him as a good coach, just fortunate to be surrounded by good players. Quote
K-9 Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 We all have to read the tea leaves. You're staring at coffee grounds, though. No matter now many actual legit reasons Babcock will give to explain his decision, you'll be convinced it's because Tim Murray lacks the proper personality. GO SABRES!!! Quote

Know what? I am right there regardless. Fukc you, B-C0ck! Quote
Stoner Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 Welp. At least Harrington will get his presser now. Right? Or nah? I bet against the presser. Quote
Derrico Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 Can't wait to hear how this all played out. Quote
ddaryl Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 I totally think the Sabres and Babcock had a contract last night and he just said he needed to sleep on it and talk it over with his family and it was just between signing the contract or staying in Detroit. I believe we pulled the offer after it was becoming obvious it was a bidding war Quote
... Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 Just like giving the NHL the finger on coaches' salaries thanks to the draft lottery, I hope Babs learns the hard way why TO is a talent vampire. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 I think it was about Toronto vs Buffalo -- both in terms of big-city glamor and in terms of playing on the biggest NHL stage. I will say, I'm going to greatly enjoy Babcock vs. the Toronto media 3 years down the line when the team is still lousy. Should get some solid one-liners outta this at least. Quote
Iron Crotch Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 The LeBrun twitter account was/is fake. Quote
Brawndo Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 MLSE Private Jet is flying to Detroit and returning to Toronto a short time later. Oh well Quote
That Aud Smell Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 I think it was about Toronto vs Buffalo -- both in terms of big-city glamour and in terms of playing on the biggest NHL stage. Fixed that. You may be right: Maybe the TO was a better fit, all things considered. In which case, I look forward to rolling that team for years to come. Quote
dudacek Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) Be interesting to hear his rationale. Edited May 20, 2015 by dudacek Quote
Hoss Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 But people tracking the MLSE plane see that it's going to Detroit today and will depart 3 minutes after landing there. Quote

No matter now many actual legit reasons Babcock will give to explain his decision, you'll be convinced it's because Tim Murray lacks the proper personality. GO SABRES!!! I'll listen, but I don't expect the Sabres or Babcock would ever tell tales out of school. Bottom line, Murray had Babcock actually negotiating a contract; money wasn't an object; how they would work together was widely reported as what they were hung up on; Babcock goes to Toronto. Quote
Kruppstahl Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 that does appear to be the perceived facts. I believe we pulled the offer after it was becoming obvious it was a bidding war Yes but you also wrote that my suggestion that Babcock could go to Toronto was "funny". What a bitch an hour or so can make, huh?! Just sayin' Quote
TheFunPolice Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 If the insane amount of money Pegula wanted to offer wasn't good enough then fine. You want a guy who wants to be here. Remember Pegula went after Gruden and Cowher first, then got Rex. IMO Rex is a better hire than either of them. Sometimes the best thing for you is when you DON'T get what you think you want. Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 Pegula embarrassed Toronto and MSLE over the Bills. They weren't letting him win here. Quote
spndnchz Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 Per LeBrun Oh no: LeBrun saying babcock to Toronto. Fake account! Quote
sabresith Posted May 20, 2015 Report Posted May 20, 2015 Toronto, lmao. Have fun building a team for the first 5years of your contract. Oh yeah don't forget probably the worst prospect pool in all of the nhl. They do not have one player I would even want on this team. Quote
