and GR asking Custance if a team should be able to collect Revenue Sharing while being able to offer unlimited funds to a coach.....it looks like us stupid jerks with our jerky thoughts are actually stupid for giving up our opinions for free.

PA....maybe we should start up a podcast.

good luck monetizing that podcast.

that said, i am wholly convinced that the GR people lurk here, and get ideas for talking points.

He already said he was not looking to be the GM.

And good luck trying to get rid of all those dead weight long term contracts they have up there...final say doesn't mean much when 25% of the roster can't be touched.

but he wouldn't be the gm, they would bring someone else in for the title of gm to do the rest of the stuff he doesn't want to handle. The talk is he wants some control over personel in Buffalo, well right now Toronto can give him whatever control he wants and the ability to help chose the guy he will be working with to handle the rest of the roles a gm would do that he doesn't want

Its a state of the art center, and it helps because no other pro franchise has a such a setup, It makes Buffalo a heluva a hockey Hub... and Toronto has a real need to rebuild where Buffalo is on the other side of the rebuild

The bolded is certainly true, but it doesn't relate to the "which city is better" question.

Yes, I think HC makes a more attractive hockey city in Buffalo.

This recalls the Armia/Bobby Ryan discussion.

Awww.....you're just a Buffalo and Pegula Hating Jerk!!!!

Actually, now is the time to think of a ground zero scenario. Toronto gets Babcock.....The league hates Pegula for setting a crazy market....McLelan is off the market....you now either go to Luke Richardson and offer him $4 million for 3 years which was an awesome prospect in his mind all along, or go and try to negotiate with an experienced coach after you just offered $50 million to Babcock.....and whatever number you offer at first, they will probably laugh at you.

As others have pointed out, Babcock is more or less uniquely situated.  No other candidate has remotely near the leverage he has -- especially not the AHL guys looking to break into the show.  If it's Disco Dan, I'm quite confident the Sabres will pay him a wage he's quite happy with, while not approaching the Babcock offer.

If he comes its mostly because of the relationships he had with murray i think.

Well, if he chooses Buffalo over Toronto, I'd guess it would be due more to roster plus ownership.

Toronto is insane to offer him this. Babcock is a great coach, but he would be a novice GM. Toronto is at a critical stage and the team's issues are extremely complex. Forgoing a seasoned GM to guide them through this transitional time could prove to be a massive mistake.
