X. Benedict Posted May 22, 2015 Report Posted May 22, 2015 I hear the Sabres are looking at the Preds hot young assistant Lorne Stewart Gordon. I get visions of Lorne Green, Adama of the original Battlestar Gallactica, Patrick Stewart, Picard of the Enterprise, and Gordon champion of NASCAR. I hope that guy can compete with his own name.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted May 26, 2015 Author Report Posted May 26, 2015 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20 GoDD is moving a mountain. 24 At the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones. Daniel 6:24 :)
beerme1 Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 I don't want any Canadians coaching this team. And on that note, I don't want any players with Canadian names like Gord or Lorne or Stu. :D I chuckled real good at this!
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted May 26, 2015 Author Report Posted May 26, 2015 Not so much Thanks a lot. I just checked my wallet and I'm missing 2 20's and a dozen singles........
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted May 26, 2015 Author Report Posted May 26, 2015 ATTN: TED BLACK http://theworldslargestdisco.com/ You need to work on this when Disco Dan is hired. It's for the kids. Get the alumni to come, maybe the Hanson Brothers show up again.......I smell synergy. If Ted and Tim Murray show up in a leisure suit, I'm willing to wear a Bruins shirt and they can dump nacho cheese on me or shoot off a fire extinguisher or whatever strikes Ted's fancy. They can even do it in private.
I am Defecting Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 You seem to have an awful lot invested in this emotionally, buddy. This should help your case, because Ted Black will always do, like, the opposite of what anyone aligned with you in a united front would suggest, so I'm switching my alligience to De Boer. Name means, "The Farmer," in in Dutch. Orange third jerseys have massive untapped market potential. Milk is the scientists perfect sports drink. We're setting up a booth at the Erie County Fair. Hanson Brothers are already booked. Your'e welcome to show up for the nacho cheese bit, though. It's for the kids. I'm gonna race the little piggies round the track on my hands and knees. Already have our theme song picked out. We're with the Grange Movement. Heck, I'd already have put up the Getting to Know You segment, if there weren't like 20 strong farmhands piled up in a logjam ahead of me, till we said easy boys, easy. We'll strike em when the time is right, just like mules a-kickin. Organized, like a beautiful Dutch farm. That's how you go about it then, Mr. Ted Black.
dejeanneret Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 Yahoo calls Bylsma to Sabres "inevitable". http://sports.yahoo....-125416091.html From Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record speaking on reunion between Shero & Bylsma: https://twitter.com/...025128050585600 Don't get carried away on the Bylsma thing. Shero talked to him already while at world championships. Things could change but don't expect Bylsma and Shero to reunite in NJ. Buffalo seems far more likely. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Would you give up a first round draft pick for Bylsma's services? Not sure about that one, but apparently that's what Penguins GM is looking to get for any team hiring Bylsma. http://www.post-gaze...es/201505240137 I don't think he'll get it, but now wondering if compensation might steer Sabres to Richardson???
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted May 26, 2015 Author Report Posted May 26, 2015 :) I am SO....in! I will be at the clydesdale barn, then make my entrance ala Lady Godiva....eating a powder sugared funnel cake.

Asking for a first round pick would be ludicrous, they better not ask for that. I want Byslma very much, but I don't want to be giving up a first.
dudacek Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 I'll join Drane naked in the funnel cake if the Sabres give up a 1st rounder for Bylsma. That's ridiculous and would cost the Pens millions.
I am Defecting Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 In all seriousness, a good coach would be worth the 21st pick. I'd do it. What's the logistics on this: I'll join Drane naked in the funnel cake if the Sabres give up a 1st rounder for Bylsma. That's ridiculous and would cost the Pens millions.

CallawaySabres Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 Giving up a first would be absolute stupidity.
I am Defecting Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 The millions! I've been away for a while, but how could I forget the old funnel cake shuffle - onesies, twosies, threesies - the finances!. Just because they ask doesn't mean we have to give it to them. Giving up a first would be absolute stupidity. Yes!!! That's not what I got from that article. I got: 1) Rutherford does want a first-rounder (in general) and will be talking to teams with extra ones. 2) Buffalo is one of the teams that has an extra, so the Pens will be talking to them about it. 3) Teams do sometimes get compensation beyond just getting the salary of a fired coach off of their books when they are hired by another team. 4) If the Sabres want to hire Bylsma, then his rights may be part of a package for the Sabres' extra first-round pick. In other words, it's not that he wants a first-rounder for Bylsma rights, but rather that it could be one piece in acquiring one from Buffalo. But this is less stupid.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted May 27, 2015 Author Report Posted May 27, 2015 The millions or the funnel cake? This is going on my tombstone.....

I think I would give up a 1st round pick - but a better question might be would you give up this years 21st pick or the 2016 1st rounder? If this past season is an indicator you'd have to do better than 90 points to be in the top 20 teams. I think I'd lean towards giving up next years.

I'd give this years to have a shot in the lotto, or not, next year. I guess we won't have to give up a straight first, but I can only imagine what a package deal for Bylsma's rights would be. If we give the first but get an interesting prospect back, along with the rights, that would excite me most.

I would give up this years 21st pick considering the odds are we will have a much lower pick - and as you said a chance in the lottery.
Hoss Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 The idea of giving up 21 for Bylsma is ridiculous. The idea of giving up next year's first for him is insanity. This is the first report that says it would cost anything to get Bylsma. If the price is more than a third I say hell no. Babcock got a third and was still actually employed. The Pens don't have leverage here, at all. Sure they can say no unless you ship them a pick, but the Sabres could just say fine you can pay him and we'll look elsewhere.

I am Defecting Posted May 27, 2015 Report Posted May 27, 2015 Welcome aboard, 7 + 6 = 13 The idea of giving up 21 for Bylsma is ridiculous. That's a strong take. I don't know too much about the market values. If you were on the negotiation team, I'd want greenhorns like me to stay out of your way for this process. The Sabres want to pay as little as they can, as you suggest, that seems right. Don't chum up the waters like a dang barbarian. Be cool, roll light, spin cast easy baby. Still bring that discofish onto the boat. Like he wanted to be caught man. Like he's been waiting for us, and we've been waiting for him. Not even trollin'. Just casting, our eyes, on each other. I like the optics on this coach. He got Sid the Kid his only ring. He got Babcock's goat in the mano i mano. He can caress and assuage the media. They'll be eating out of his hands. But he's still looks good in a leisure suit. He's got got a young mans mojo. The fireplaces in the locker room finally make sense. The rosewood ambience too. The hot tubs, of course. Money well spent. That he'd have old baddies like the OP in love with his hockey team is testament to something larger. This guy's a healer. A Disco Priest. One Buffalo, Hoss and Yuri. Ghost and Nfreeman. Team Storm Cloud, and Team Sunshine and Kittens. Tank and Anti-tank. Bylsma.
