Randall Flagg Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 Qwk got screwwwwwed So Dudacek, how many rounds do we go? Until we have 23 players? And qwk, I'll give you #5 for both your picks. Nah I changed my mind qwk. Quote
SDS Posted May 9, 2015 Author Report Posted May 9, 2015 So I think we do this to rank NHL players, right? Not to build complete teams? The first way is in the correct spirit of the thread. We've got 15 people in for sure: I'm going to cut it off there and draw two teams out of a hat for each poster. We'll pick in reverse order of the NHL standings: i.e. if you pull the Sabres and Oilers, you pick first and third. If every person is representing a team (or two) you draft a team. You could draft for near-term, you could draft for the future, or you could try to do a little of both. Qwk got screwwwwwed So Dudacek, how many rounds do we go? Until we have 23 players? And qwk, I'll give you #5 for both your picks. Nah I changed my mind qwk. Personally, I would draft 12 forwords, six defenseman, a starting goalie and maybe a back up. Quote

dudacek Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 (edited) So let's keep this simple. Guy with the first pick posts his pick, then PMs the guy with the second pick to let him know he's up, and so on. Everybody else mocks the pick and we move on to the next guy. Let's do at least 10 rounds, then decide if we want to keep going. I'm going to go with the spirit of the thread: ranking the best players. So take the highest-ranked player on your board, regardless of position or contract. Maybe we can do a team-building one after that. Wildcard you are on the clock: EDIT: Up to date list as requested, round one: 1. WildCard (Buffalo) - Patrick Kane2. Randall Flagg (Arizona) - Connor McDavid3. Liger (Edmonton) - John Tavares4. Yeah, that's what I was implying. So this is more than just aiming to rank the players, like the purpose of the thread originally, you want to build your best team. Is there a good link out there for a list of every NHL player, perhaps in order of current cap hit or something? Don't wanna miss anyone. Edit: Just saw Dudacek's latest post, sounds gooooood Edited May 9, 2015 by Randall Flagg Quote
Cereal Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 (edited) dudacek, perhaps you could periodically edit your last post there (#81 above) with the summary of picks so far, since it is conveniently at the top of page 3? SDS has the original post of this thread, not sure if there's easier way post the "big board" somewhere. Happy drafting, y'all. Hoss Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 The rounds should reverse like a fantasy draft. Team drafting first shouldn't get the first pick of every round (thus making 30 gets the first pick in the 2nd round and so on). Quote
Randall Flagg Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 We should try to make it into teams, though, IMO. Have 2 lines of 3 forwards each, 2 D Pairs, and a goalie, that's 11 rounds. Then we can set our teams up as LW-C-RW LW-C-RW LD-RD LD-RD G And argue over whose team is best. Quote

Agreed Cry babies :nana: So I have my pick, only one question: are we basing this on other posters' opinions on who has the best team? Or is this like fantasy where we judge this on points produced by that player? Quote

dudacek Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 (edited) Alright, I'll make my first pick then Tyler Seguin A shocker to open this thing. Stirring the pot, WC, or your legitimate take for league's best player? Guy is very talented, but not hard enough, or enough of a team player to be in the conversation for number one, IMO. Flagg is up next. Edited May 9, 2015 by dudacek Quote

Randall Flagg Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 With the second overall selection at the 2015 NHL redraft, I, Randall Flagg, the Walkin' Dude, Ageless Stranger, select the best forward to enter the league since Super Mario, Connor McDavid. Team as of pick 1: xxx-McDavid-xxx xxx-xxx-xxx xxx-xxx xxx-xxx xxx Also I'm bad at math, it'll only take us 5.5 rounds to fill our teams under that format Quote
Hoss Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 Liger is up next. This should've been done earlier, but here's the full order for round one: 1. WildCard (Buffalo) - Tyler Seguin 2. Randall Flagg Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 (edited) The teams next to our names give us the order but can we only make one team out of both of our picks each round? That keeps it at 5-6 rounds so we don't have to pick Brian Gionta or Griggy, and we can focus on one lineup Edited May 9, 2015 by Randall Flagg Quote
WildCard Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 I can explain my pick1) 23 y/o, insanely talented, makes players around him better 2) I forgot I can draft McDavid Quote

Guy is very talented, but not hard enough, or enough of a team player to be in the conversation for number one, IMO. Flagg is up next. I don't even know what this nonsense is based on. Also have to consider he's on a very team friendly contract for a few years, compared to somebody like Kane who is about to be paid almost double annually. Solid, if unconventional, pick. I can explain my pick 1) 23 y/o, insanely talented, makes players around him better 2) I forgot I can draft McDavid And with that, WildCard is the first GM in league history to get fired immediately after his first draft pick  Quote
