Thorner Posted May 18, 2015 Report Posted May 18, 2015 The Reinhart pick is like the Eichel pick — risky, but if you believe the projections good value. Of course there is some inherent risk to picking any young player, but I wouldn't single these two out. In regards to Eichel at 9, I think that is hardly riskier than McDavid at 2. Quote

If I'm singling them out, it's because of the suggestion that either was a homer pick. Speaking of homer picks, four Sabres in the top 60. Quote

I love Girgensons but his value isn't the 39th highest of all NHL eligible players. As far as the other three, while on the surface it appears to be too many, they've played a total of 9 games for the Sabres between them, so it's generally just potential and nothing to be linked with the Sabres failures of the past few seasons. Do Eichel, Kane and Reinhart deserve to be in the top 60? You can make a good argument for it. Would fans of other teams rank them in the top 60 if they were conducting a similar draft? Eichel - Probably. Kane - Possibly. Reinhart - Maybe, depends how much WJC they saw. A Blues fan board would probably have Backes in by now. A Leafs board, perhaps a William Nylander. Quote

Nail Yakupov, Ryan Murray, Alex Galchenyuk, Morgan Reilly, Hampus Lindholm, Jacob Trouba, Zemgus Girgensons, Cody Ceci, Thomas Wilson, Tomas Hertl and Olli Maatta are the 2012 draftees that have played significant NHL time already. I would rank Zemgus in the top 5 among those. If that draft were redone today, I think he goes 4th behind Nail, Galchecnyuk and Lindholm. I will admit I gave him a boost with a desire to build from the center out, but I think he goes in the top 60 if all the NHL GMs were asked to complete this same draft. Quote
Randall Flagg Posted May 18, 2015 Report Posted May 18, 2015 Trouba goes one spot ahead of Zemgus for me, from that draft, but we really did quite nicely with that pick. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted May 18, 2015 Report Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) Barkov to Perry, could be magic in a year or two. I think he's going to be a great center, I like what I've seen out of him. Fun interview too, he pretends to be really shy but he's got a real dry, cocky sense of humor. Holy crap, I'm up already? I'm not ready.............. So did we decide whether or not we're all building a team or are we just picking who we think is next best in line? In other words I'd like to know if I need to pick a D-man or not. I don't have one. Randall Flagg Posted May 19, 2015 Report Posted May 19, 2015 I had Ekblad as my #1 defenseman on the list I made when I was viewing it as building a team. I was hoping he'd keep falling, oh well. And JJ I agree about Barkov. I really really like him, can't wait until his confidence catches up to his talent. Quote
Eleven Posted May 19, 2015 Report Posted May 19, 2015 Who doesn't hate a Bruin? But I'm taking Dougie Hamilton. My core, now, is Stamkos, Reinhart, and Hamilton. I will win every Cup from 2017 out. Quote
