One thing I like about this thread is that it is building a benchmark for our other conversations.

Is so-and-so a top-six forward? Well, he was the 33rd forward picked in the super-draft, so pretty clearly he is.

He can't play on your first pair. Really? He the 23rd defence man taken in the super-draft, good chance there aren't 60 defencemen better than him.

Goalies are a dime a dozen. Probably. Only two taken in the first two rounds of the super-draft.

Not that it is master-list by any means, and there will be outliers, but it is developing a Sabrespace consensus.

No it doesn't.  I am sorry but because 1 or 2 posters have selected a player above where they should it doesn't mean we have consensus on ROR.

For me this list gives me no consensus on anything other than we value centers above every other position in hockey.

You won't, but you seem to be the only poster expressing reservations about O'Relly being the 37th forward taken.

Even using your definition from the other thread of "90 top-six forwards in the league," O'Reilly could have been overpriced by 50 selections and still qualify.

Your crusade against ROR has no limits, huh? Just because you disagree that O'Reilly is a top-six forward doesn't make what Dudacek said untrue.

Doesn't make what he said true either.

But this isn't the thread for this.

Of course you disagreeing with what he says doesn't make it true. :p

But what Dudacek is pretty accurate aside from situations where most posters may disagree with a pick (which is likely pretty rare). If just one of many posters disagrees then I would be more inclined to believe that poster is wrong.

See this is why I didn't want to have the ROR debate.  This right here.  It was a kobayashi maru from the start for me, which I knew.

Cody Hodgson. You better not.

I think it's spelled Cy Hgsn but I am drafting this amazing center prospect from Finland.  I can't name him but he played for Philadelphia once.

Just better hope JJ doesn't get there first.

There are three or four guys I am very surprised haven't gone yet.

I'm honestly probably not picking one of those guys you're surprised over lol

Wait I just changed who I am taking. Didn't know he was still available.

Hampus Lindolm and Tyler Toffoli. Really surprised Toffoli fell this far, and Lindholm looks very promising.

Edit: Thanks for keeping the updated lists going Dudacek

Did I get either of your surprise players Flagg?

Posted (edited)

We've reached an interesting point for me.

We're almost out of Pacioretty types: consensus first-liners in the 24-29 age window.

So do you take a Seabrook (a first-pair guy, but aging), or a Barkov (a very talented kid with uncertain upside)?

I think the picks could be all over the place for a while now.

No but I was ready to snag one of those later on.
