Hoss Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 I've been waffling over where to talk about this, but the future of USA Hockey looks brilliant right now. At the U18 Worlds USA is up 7-2 on Canada. Auston Matthews and Colin White are both having big days right now. What a group of kids. Team USA's future features: Alex Galchenyuk, C, Montreal Canadiens (2012) Seth Jones, D, Nashville Predators (2013) Thatcher Demko, G, Boston College (2014) Jack Eichel, C, Boston University (2015) Noah Hanifin, D, Boston College (2015) Colin White, RW, Boston College (2015) Auston Matthews, C, USDT (2016) Matthew Tkachuk, LW, USDP (2016) - Keith's son Guys that should still factor in long-term for team USA: Jonathan Quick (G - LA), Cory Schneider (G - NJ), Justin Faulk (D - CAR), Jacob Trouba (D - WPG), Galchenyuk (F - MON), Seth Jones (D - NSH), Shattenkirk (D - STL), TJ Oshie (F- STL), Kane (W - CHI), Kessel (W - TOR) Canada will always been the dominant hockey country, and it's not like Finland and others will just disappear... But it really looks like Team USA should be as competitive as it has been since NHL players got more involved in international play. Perfect time for this to come together with World Cup of Hockey returning. Quote
3putt Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 The only hitch is that USA Hockey is biased, too biased, towards the NTDP players. They need to,stop patting themselves on the back and realize that sometimes they miss and players take other routes. I thought Bailey should have made the WJC team. He brings a heavy game that matches up well against the Lads from up north. Quote

Johnny Hockey - Hopefully his path doesn't resemble Johnny Football. A fun, fast player. Quote

This is a great video from a couple of days about him. Makes me love the kid. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/gaudreau-defying-odds-in-flames-playoff-run/ Quote

He's a stud man. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 As long as people obsessed with grit aren't picking the team, I really think we have a shot at gold next Olympics. Quote

GoPre Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 (edited) Are we even sure the NHL will participate in the 2018 Olympics? It's in Korea.Owners don't want it. Players haven't really expressed an opinion yet. Tavares got injured last year. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Id like it if NHL players continue to play in the Olympics. Flyers owner has been very against the players being in the Olympics for a number of reasons. Edited April 25, 2015 by GoPre Quote
thewookie1 Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 (edited) Olympics aside, I like the thought that with Eichel we might be able to brand ourselves as the home of USA Hockey within the next decade. Seeing as Patrick Kane is from Buffalo and Eichel would be in Buffalo, in theory they'd be the top 2 US players. Edited April 25, 2015 by thewookie1 Quote
Eleven Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 If only dipshit Bylsma had brought Bishop along last time... Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 Are we even sure the NHL will participate in the 2018 Olympics? It's in Korea. Sure? No, but until they actually do not go, I take all comments about "consideration" to be pure posturing to get a better financial deal out of the IOC and IIHF. Quote
