Neo Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Everyone on Twitter is assuming the NHL is mad at this. This actually makes me kind of happy, because the NHL deserves it for this dumb draft system. I dig this insight. Quote
LGR4GM Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 ah someone piss in your milk? That isn't what you said the first time :flirt: Quote
deluca67 Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Is it too much to dream that Tim Murray can take a run at Phoenix's #3 pick? Darcy does love himself some Cody Hodgson? Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Couldn't be worse for the league. You're right. And the league has nobody to blame except itself. Quote
SarasotaSabre Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Even Milbury looked bummed for the kid. Edmonton does nothing for the NHL to market to the US audience. It is not a good TV fit. Even if they sign him...there will not be a flood of free agent talent wanting to play there. It is not the 80s and Gretzky. yeah, and Milbury made that semi-douche about Buffalo being crushed - buzz off Quote
Neo Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Welcome to the return of the Oilers/Flames rivalry! I had to stay up late for those games and did so gladly. Quote

The Jokeman Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) My guess is a few of those prior year Edmonton number 1 picks might become available on draft day. They just gave Yakupov a major deal, to me Hopkins could be movable for a good Dman or Goalie and no, I don't want him as a Sabres fan. Edited April 19, 2015 by The Jokeman Quote
jad1 Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 By the way, all of those out there touting the signing of Mike Babcock, do you truly believe he is coming now? Really really believe it? I do not think so. And yes, McDavid will sign with Edmonton as they also have a youthful club. He could very well be the next Gretzky. Let the comparisons between McDavid and Eichel start now. The coach Buffalo hires this season will be ever so important now. If it is Luke Richardson, hope he brings that Binghampton magic with him. No way Edmonton deals the McDavid pick either. That is guaranteed ticket sales and ###### in the seats. As for a goaltender, I think if Edmonton shores up the rest of their game, their goaltending is decent. Plenty goalies out there, ask the Sabres! Yes. I believe that IF Murray decides to go after Babcock, Pegula will make him an offer he can't refuse. McDavid OR Eichel will be a key selling point with Babcock, along with the other young talented guys on the team. Quote
TheMatrix31 Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Don't forget the Sabres have another first round pick and two second round picks. They will get some talented young men this year. If done well, the future is bright. So what you're saying is that good management and scouting matters quite a bit. Quote

sicknfla Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 He won't trade for McEichel, he'll trade for RNH. They need Defense, we got Defense. Who do you let go for Nugent Hopkins? I think they might trade anyone but Risto. I like this angle. Quote
LGR4GM Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 So what you're saying is that good management and scouting matters quite a bit. absolutely. It is the reason Pittsburgh only has 1 cup with Crosby. Quote
Onceagain Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 yeah, and Milbury made that semi-douche about Buffalo being crushed - buzz off Ya that comment pissed me off too. We should be f-ing ecstatic to have the best player we have drafted since Perrault/Turgeon. Yes we were o' so close to McDavid but whatever this is still a big fat win for the Sabres. Quote
wjag Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 They just gave Yakupov a major deal, to me Hopkins could be movable for a good Dman or Goalie and no, I don't want him as a Sabres fan. I never thought they would come here. Just Edmonton should be very active. They have a glut now.. And the glut isn't necessarily meshing. Quote
North Buffalo Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 I hope he does this and drafts MarnerNow that would be awesome and I would reconsider my Murray hate. Quote
The Jokeman Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Is it too much to dream that Tim Murray can take a run at Phoenix's #3 pick? Darcy does love himself some Cody Hodgson? Why would we? I don't think we need Hanifin. Quote
smj Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 My guess is a few of those prior year Edmonton number 1 picks might become available on draft day. Yes, forget about McDavid. We have Eichel and who really knows who will be the better player? I like having the guy trying to prove he should have been picked number one who was born in the US and happy to play for Buffalo (not dreaming about Toronto). So Murray should poach one of Edmonton's young offensive talents for one of our defenders and/or picks. We have a good young D - we just need the O. Quote
nobody Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 I'd be a bit upset that McDavid is going to the Oilers - but the Sabres are getting Eichel! Quote
dejeanneret Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 With an 80% chance we wouldn't get him. The goal was McDavid OR Eichel. McEichel. Get it? Some people get it Fire Eater, and some people don't. Don't waste your breath bro. Quote
deluca67 Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 If I were the Oilers. I would trade Hopkins to Phoenix and try and get that #3 plus something else. Oilers could trade the #1 pick to Boston for Lucic? Just kidding! This is a great day for the Sabres Nation, we are getting a great talent. Quote
