sicknfla Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 (edited) Murray is going to go after McDavid. This could get interesting. Don't think Edmonton budges but he will offer a lot. I am content staying put. Edited April 19, 2015 by sicknfla Quote
Hoss Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 My three predictions from tonight: -The Oilers win the cup within three years. -McDavid signs with the Maple Leafs in 2022. -The Sabres win the cup by the time McDavid is a Maple Leaf. Quote
JJFIVEOH Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 It sure is broken. No doubt about that. Quote
deluca67 Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Wow, the WGR guys are almost in tears. Welcome Jack Eichel! Now it's up to Tim Murray to get to work and fill out the rest of this future Stanley Cup Champion. Go Sabres! Quote
dejeanneret Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 They would trade out to us. Edmonton Buffalo swap would be something. I could see the Oilers playing this angle. I could also see Murray playing ball with them. Although the GM said he couldn't see himself trading out of this position, which is why i'm thinking they just take Eichel since admitting of not trading the pick takes out the drama for Buffalo Murray is going to go after McDavid. This could get interesting. I agree Quote
Robviously Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 And this is why you don't tank. Jack Eichel had better be the next Modano. You are never guaranteed the #1pick. NEVER!!!!!!!!!! By the way, when is Mike Babcock coming again? Yes the Sabres have loads of young talent but I do feel this "rebuild" will now take considerably longer then expected. In Jack we trust!!!! I still do not believe Babcock sets foot in Buffalo so start looking for another coach whose last name isn't Bylsma. Calling Luke Richardson! I hope this all pans out Sabre fans or we are in for years of more pain. Not my way of building but I am no GM. I prefer the Habs, Wings, Bruins way of building. THIS IS EXACTLY WHY YOU TANK. We're still getting the other generational talent in the draft. Quote
TrueBlueGED Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Meh, I'm just happy a real fan base gets to enjoy him and he's buried out west. Eichel is coming for us! Quote
Nitro60 Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Even Milbury looked bummed for the kid. Edmonton does nothing for the NHL to market to the US audience. It is not a good TV fit. Even if they sign him...there will not be a flood of free agent talent wanting to play there. It is not the 80s and Gretzky. Quote
PromoTheRobot Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 The price would not be worth paying... The price won't be that high. EDM could just draft Eichel and leave us McDavid but they'd be dumb to do that. They should trade with the Sabres, but Murray will laugh and hang up on the Oilers if they ask for too much. We offer them the Islanders #1 pick and they take it. Quote
drnkirishone Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 i think it is much more likely that Edm makes a trade with the Yotes instead of us. Quote

Uh, the tank was never about getting McDavid. The tank was about ensuring we got McDavid or Eichel which we did! The tank was a success. How would you like to be Arizona? They're the team that got screwed. And I can't say I'm unhappy about that because Regier didn't deserve it. Edited April 19, 2015 by smj Quote
Robviously Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 They would trade out to us. Edmonton Buffalo swap would be something. Something dumb. If we're making trades it should be to build around Eichel, not to make the slight upgrade from Eichel to McDavid. Quote
LGR4GM Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Buffalo Sabres @BuffaloSabres 1m1 minute agoToronto, Ontario Murray on Eichel: He's in the top-percentile of guys, comparable to guys who have jumped in the league at 19 & done well Quote
Robviously Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Meh, I'm just happy a real fan base gets to enjoy him and he's buried out west. Eichel is coming for us! McDavid seemed thrilled..... Quote
kas23 Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 What if Edmonton stuns the hockey world and trades the pick? As they really don't need another forward. Doubtful they'd pass on McDavid but you never know. They actually could build their team for many years if they traded down to 2, then traded down to 3 and took Hanifan. Quote
Andrew Amerk Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Sorry, but the goal was McDavid. Eichel is just a consolation prize. Quote
Doohicksie Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 ...and here comes the storm. The NWS says 55 mph winds with 80 mph gusts. The winds are definitely blowing. Quote

dudacek Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Very surprised at how bummed McDavid looked. Edmonton hardly deserved another shot, but he's as far way from Buffalo as possible. And that was great theatre. Surprised how tense I was. Quote
ROC Sabres Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 McDavid seemed thrilled..... Any player that is drafted by the Oilers in the past 5-10 years is unhappy about it. Quote
pastajoe Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 I don't want Murray to go after McDavid. It would be bad if it didn't get done and became public. How would Eichel feel? This way Eichel can play with a chip on his shoulder trying to prove he's better. Quote
Nitro60 Posted April 19, 2015 Report Posted April 19, 2015 Don't forget the Sabres have another first round pick and two second round picks. They will get some talented young men this year. If done well, the future is bright. Quote
