Crusader1969 Posted December 13, 2015 Author Report Posted December 13, 2015 I've always thought they should make a rule about this. They could make a rule that no team can move UP from the lottery more than once every other year or something like that. This way you're not penalizing a team if they legitimately finish last but you are spreading the wealth more assuredly. Heard it here first - the Oilers will not get the first pick in next years draft as they will finish 3rd in the Pacific and make the play-offs. Quote

There is concern that his shoulder injury hasn't healed. Chykrun that is. Tough to take a guy to a short tourney with a short roster that might not make it through. Quote

But would much rather have scoring winger. Quote
#freejame Posted December 23, 2015 Report Posted December 23, 2015 DeBrincat might have to donate half of his first contract to Johnny Gaudreau, who had another hat trick tonight, if they both keep up their paces. It's good to see smaller guys succeeding in the NHL, though I don't think many more will be slipping to the fourth round. I might be talking out of my ass, but I can't think of a single of player who has had his draft stock rise so much from a guy who not only doesn't play on his team, but isn't even in the same league. TrueBlueGED Posted December 23, 2015 Report Posted December 23, 2015 I'm always skeptical of when the hype machine starts for the next draft, you almost always hear this kind of thing. They could certainly be on the same level, but I have a hard time believing Matthews would have been the no-brainer this summer. Great time for USA Hockey. Hopefully they're all ready for prime time next Olympics. I may vomit if Backes and Stastny are our best centers again. Quote
JohnRobertEichel Posted December 23, 2015 Report Posted December 23, 2015 Olli Juolevi and Rasmus Ristolainen would make a great Finnish top pair. Quote

I may vomit if Backes and Stastny are our best centers again. Ya, I'm not really a fan of some of the statements in that article. At one point, he writes, "It's just that Matthews projects to be even better." He then quotes a single executive who said something to that effect. Matthews is quite clearly on Eichel's level, and they project pretty similarly. But I have read a ton of articles saying that Matthews was a likely number 3 had he been available last year, and just recently have heard analysts on TSN make statements to the same effect. I'm too lazy right now to find links, but I also don't want to cause it doesn't really matter. Everyone knows they are both very good, and opinions will vary as to who would have gone before the other. Any quote, like the one I posted, that pretends to imply that there is any kind of factual consensus on who projects to be better I don't think is accurate in any way. Quote
3putt Posted December 24, 2015 Report Posted December 24, 2015 The article states "one eastern conference talent evaluator..." That could be a scout to a minor league assistant coach. It doesn't say GM. Quote

Apparently he is ahead of where is brother was a couple of years ago at his age and he's already ripping up the AHL as a rookie in that league. It seems like there is no Crosby/McDavid in this draft but it's got a great headliner in Mathews and it's pretty deep. The top 10 picks look to be real difference makers. And I'm an idiot and see you added Nylander Edited January 6, 2016 by Derrico Quote
