Wonder if we would have taken Bennett or ekblad if van leapfrogged us. Easy to say now that it would have been ekblad since we have Eichel but my guess is we would have taken Bennett maybe even draisstal (bad spelling - than guy on edm)

My guess is Bennett.

It's highly unlikely anybody outside of the top three (maybe four with Tkachuk) plays next season. None of the dmen should be playing right away.

 

On that subject: where would you rank Provorov if he were in tbis year's draft?

Best defenseman, and I'd have him at 4. I think most people would have him at 6 behind the five forwards, though.

 

For reference, I had him ranked above Hanifin last year

I would likely have a tough time between Provorov and Juolevi but I do think I'd give the nod to Provorov. He'd slip in at five behind the four forwards.

 

And it'll be interesting to see how he and Hanifin compete in a few years.

I have him at 4. I was high on him last year as well and was trying to figure out a way to get back into the first to get him. Girgs would have been the key piece and his value was much higher last year. Edited June 15, 2016 by 3putt

As we probably already know - Chyrchrun the greatest upside but comes with risk, while Juolevi the safest pick of the 3 dmen. 

 

My feeling is the Juolevi goes first and is gone by the time Sabres draft.

I concur, and there's no way to know what will and won't happen.  I still believe 100% that we'll end up with a D, unless there's some unexpected move no one sees coming.

I wouldn't. Hartnell, even putting aside the age concerns, doesn't play the type of game I want the Sabres to play. I want to be a fast and smart team, and Hartnell is slow and dumb. I know he can still score and brings a physical element, but again, not what I'm looking for.
