Rasmus_
I was originally skeptical of Boeser last season, but man LG, you were right, so I won't doubt you anymore. He was one of my favorite college players to watch this season. Close to only Werenski, Connor and Vesey.
French Collection
I realize what you're saying about puck moving D. I agree we don't need any Hal Gill types in this day and age. I was thinking more along the lines of Vlasic from the Sharks, who is a top 4 on a good team and was on Team Canada for the last Olympics. Never gets any press but obviously well respected. Checking his stats surprised me because he is getting some points, 39 this year, career best. He did get over a point a game in his last year in the Q as well. You may be on to something there, where scouts don't look for the Rod Langways, the coaches develop them into those roles once they turn pro. Derrico
Keller at 4! I love Keller! Not sure if I #4 overall love Keller, but nice to see a major voice give him some recognition. Interesting that neither Chychrun nor Sergachev make the cut. Below is a great write up on Keller. To be honest I've just kind of ignored him due to his smaller size and therefore thinking TM won't take him. Sounds like an unreal talent. But after the Ennis head injuries I would worry about a guy this small making it in the league. http://www.allaboutthejersey.com/2016/5/9/11635216/small-point-machine-clayton-keller-2016-nhl-draft-prospect-profile

The question is if Keller is slippery like Gaudreau or Kane. If he doesn't put himself in dangerous positions, his size won't matter, and that's true for any player, no matter what size. Ya I've never really considered him but the more I read the more I would get excited about that pick. Murray has always preached BPA at the draft so I feel good about that. If he thinks the Dmen available at our pick can become top pairing guys to play with Risto then I'll feel great about taking a D. But the forwards in this draft seem deep and very skilled. I would hate to see us take a Zach Bogosian with so many high end forward prospects on the board just because our weakness today is on D. Just wish NS had shouted a little louder @ him about grabbing Drouin when he was available. ;) ALL's I want for Christmas is Fowler, Drouin, & Chychrun. :( (Though truthfully, if the Sabres do land Chychrun his falling to 8 is concerning. Memories of Cooper & Grigorenko. 1 of which I was glad they got. 1 not so much. Maybe 3rd times the charm? :))

You probably could get Fowler without trading #8, but it would be a heavy price in most cases.

He apparently really wanted Larkin in 2014, a player 14 teams passed on in the 1st. If GMTM picks a player people aren't discussing as a "top 10 talent", so be it. ct fab
Keller looks great but not sure if gmtm takes a small player? Guess it depends on his ratings if the dmen that will be available there. I'll tell you though, Keller looks better than Nylander and would look great on Eichel's wing along with reinhart. He has that BU connection with Jack too

He has that BU connection with Jack too The size is what would make it surprising if it's the pick. But....gmtm seems to really value hockey iq and this guy has it in spades. Watching a lot of his highlights and this guy is Sam Reinhart smart. Only an inch shorter than Marner and very similar type whom went 4th overall last year. He's also one of the younger players in the draft so there's a chance he even grows another inch. I get the competition he's playing against isn't the best of the best but he's putting up video game numbers.
Brawndo
Keller is the pick. Grab a LHD in UFA or via trade. Let him play a year for BU to continue his growth, get him into a professional conditioning program as well At least we know if Murray does want him, he'll be available at 8. Not sure the best place to put this, and there's a few head-scratchers in the article, but this is a TSN write-up on our offseason game plan that makes reference to Keller in the draft section: http://www.tsn.ca/off-season-game-plan-buffalo-sabres-1.488687 A good article, overall. WildCard
I'm jumping onto this Keller train while it's still rolling. His highlights are unreal; go to the 40s mark for an absurd pass, the 5:14 mark to see how this mentality, and the entire first minute is just absurd. You really should take the time out of your day to watch this video. In the words of the analyst (McKenzie?), Keller is simply brilliant. He will purposefully manipulate plays into happening with misdirection to get a defender to move this way or that so his guy can get open. Fast, good shot, great stick handling, and just beautiful vision. If you want BPA, this is it. If he's 6'++, he's a top 5 pick. By the way, you know who else is 5'10? Thorner
He's not generally regarded as ~8th overall in the draft though, so if this is the guy we want, we better be hoping Murray and his team see this thing quite a bit differently from those making the lists. I'd say it's unlikely we end up with Keller. Saying nothing of my high opinion of him as a prospect.

I would consider trading up for him though. Worst case is he's taken and we get Serg or Juolevi
