dudacek Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 Indeed, he's much more the type to rail against such rocky behavior My only concern is the misconducts he could get from so many high hits Yep. Team defence suffers when he's taking a powder in the penalty box. Quote
WildCard Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) hmmmm According to Ennis, Deslauriers is “probably the most liked guy on the team.” Ennis went on to boast about his teammate, “He’s going to work and he’s got a lot more skill than people give him credit for. He’s actually a very, very athletic kid. You think, ‘Oh, he’s just a tough guy.’ But no, he skates fast, he’s got really good hands. “He’s just kind of in a situation where he’s had to play that fourth-line role. But now he’s got a good opportunity to show a lot of people what we see in him, and that’s some sneaky skills.” http://thehockeywriters.com/the-buffalo-sabres-unsung-hero/ I'll eat my shorts if Des is a consistent 1-2 liner, but a solid 3rd wouldn't blow my mind Edited November 2, 2015 by WildCard Quote
Huckleberry Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 The Bogo return, if it ever happens, will be interesting. My gut tells me Colaiacovo goes down. My brain tells me Weber should (wouldn't be shocked to see a team claim him on waivers). If Murray knows ahead of time that Bogo will be returning for sure he should shop whichever vet he plans to send down. You're not going to get much (if anything), but it's worth that rather than waiving them. True, but we can't afford to ship out a veteran Defenseman. If someone else goes down we need them all at this point. Quote
inkman Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 This team really needs a bump defensively. Bogo is the hard-nosed type they need. He's in line to help this team. Plus he'll be right there if the other team decides to snow our goaltender. I just hope this injury isn't something serious (i.e. I hope he didn't blow his knee). The Sabres have a sweettooth and Bogo is the sugar to fulfill their needs. Since Bylsma is such a line tweaker we might have to look into the eightball to see who Bogo is paired with. He's also got an awesome personality, occasionally making teammates snort with laughter. Impressive Quote
Rasmus_ Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 (edited) hmmmm http://thehockeywriters.com/the-buffalo-sabres-unsung-hero/ I'll eat my shorts if Des is a consistent 1-2 liner, but a solid 3rd wouldn't blow my mind It doesn't surprise me that he's very well liked in the locker room. He has a sound work ethic and he always finishes his plays. I miss McNabb, but with how Fasching is being developed at Minnesota and Deslauriers has come up and impressed, this trade was nothing short of a win! He has strong skill to be a solid third liner. Anything else he's a fill in type player. Early on his career if I'm not mistaken wasn't Nick Foligno more of a third liner and he developed at that rate. Not saying it's going to happen, but weirder things have happened. Edited November 2, 2015 by TheCerebral1 Quote
qwksndmonster Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 Great post, Hoss. And I'm going to pull a d4rk here and say that I always thought/posted that Des will develop into a steady third liner. Larsson - Zemgus - Deslauriers is an impossible to play against third line Quote
LGR4GM Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 Deslauriers is known as a joker in the locker room and a really funny team guy. Humor is something people have lacked in that locker room for a bit. Quote

X. Benedict Posted November 2, 2015 Report Posted November 2, 2015 Deslauriers is known as a joker in the locker room and a really funny team guy. Humor is something people have lacked in that locker room for a bit. I notice that Bylsma really loves Deslauriers in crunch minutes. With a lead, last minute, he's on the ice with two defense-men Risto and Gorges. It's like having 3 defenders. Quote

Nick has a very underrated hockey IQ and honestly his edgework is actually pretty good, he's a decent skater really. His hands are just mediocre which I think hurts him the most. I like Nick. Quote

When Bogo returns we'll have: Bogo, Risto, Gorges, McCabe, Pysyk, Franson for the top six Then we'll have Weber, Colaiacovo, Donovan and then, to an extent, Ruhwedel and Sanguinetti. I think we have plenty of bottom-pairing depth with and without Bogo. Quote

Not sure, but with maybe one key upgrade for Franson or Gorges and a year or two of full time NHL duty for Pysyk/McCabe and that may be a decent D-core in a couple of years. Quote

This D corp has looked better than expected, thanks in no small part to McCabe and Pysyk contributing. Gorges has been performing admirably with the tough assignments (strictly as a stay at home guy). It'll be nice when we can stash him on the second pair every night. Quote

I fully expected Pysyk to be a steady defensive presence this year and I'm kind of surprised he wasn't playing full time last year. I can think of no good reason (tank) he wasn't with the big club. Doohicksie Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 Ennis doesn't surprise me; he's probably still recovering from whatever injury kept him out last week. I wonder if McGinn is hurt or is just taking a maintenance day? Quote
